Kasper was the player personnel and development assistant with the Browns in 2014, when McDaniel was the WR coach there. #FinsUp

Dolphins are hiring Eagles assistant coach Joe Kasper as safeties coach, per source.

Kasper had significant interest elsewhere but chose Miami where he will coach its safeties — a position he coached & played much of his career + learn from new Dolphins DC Vic Fangio.

So...it seems safe to say that the Dolphins are now becoming a desired destination for both coaches and players. When is the last time we were able to confidently say that? Maybe the early Jimmy Johnson days??

Even then Jimmy couldn't attract a top notch offensive coordinator and also failed to get Belicheck to come here after Cleveland fired him after the 1995 season. (George Hill did do an excellent job as DC, though IMO) Shula couldn't get Pete Carroll in his final season, losing him to the 49ers. I'd say you'd have to go back to the 1970's, sad to say. It was a desired destination for players during the Jimmy Era though.

Shula flew Carroll to Miami after he was fired by the Jets following the 1994 season, and tried to sell him on the job by stating he could succeed Shula as HC. Carroll chose George Siefert and the 49ers instead, and ended up succeeding Parcells as HC in New England, which didn't go so well.

Jimmy tried to hire Belicheck twice, after Belicheck was fired in Cleveland in '95 and Jimmy was assembling his staff, and then he tried again a couple of years later but BB rebuffed him twice.

Strangely, Wanny did attract big name offensive coordinators in Gailey and Turner despite having Jay Fiedler at QB, but it didn't help in his case. After all, Wanny was still calling the shots.
