Tua plays all 17 games and we go 12-5 and take the East.

9 - 8 is likely IMO.
I am very concerned about the sloppiness I am seeing in the team from a discipline standpoint.
Sorta the same fear I have for the Gators under Billy Napier. In his second year I am seeing the same problems that plagued the Gators last year.

Are you talking about preseason? I wouldn't put any stock in anything that happened in preseason. But for what it's worth, I didn't really see any sloppiness/undisciplined play from any players that are actually going to be on the team - aside from the high snap from Williams. In fact, while it means absolutely nothing, the starting OL played better than I've seen in many, many years, and the running game looked borderline-fantastic. Penalties were also down, and the playcalls were in on time - a welcome change from last season.
Again, all of that preseason stuff is meaningless, but I at least came away feeling very positive about the team.

11-6 is my prediction. We simply have to see back to back playoffs for the first time in 22 years to consider gutting two consecutive drafts to be worth it. Missing the playoffs or another "just barely in, one and done" 9-8 record would be a failure.

Absolutely. Gotta make some noise this season.

Yep, that's my prediction. Tua is going to dominate again - but this time it will be for a full season.

10-7. Starting 8-2 and losing Tua to injury and retirement!

Dang! CC, you keep posting like that, you gonna give JMP an ulcer!
He ain't as young as he used to be remember?
I had another talk with that former Coach/player this weekend and one of the topics was drafting QBs. Specifically, Tua or Herbert. He said once Burrows was gone he would have taken Herbert or traded down.
Tua was injured at the time and does not have the prototypical size for the NFL QB and this can lead to the problems we saw last year..
Herbert was gonna be Matt Ryan good as the floor and his ceiling is off the charts. He said Herbert's production was Dan Marino like?
I thought that was hyperbole, but when you go look it up...
CBS Article on Herbert
CBS Sports wrote:Herbert has the most passing yards and second-most touchdown passes by any player through three seasons in NFL history. Only Dan Marino had more touchdown passes through three seasons.
Good golly miss molly! I knew Herbert was putting up good stats but this IS Dan Marino like.
JMP keeps pointing to the Chargers records like the NFL is strictly a QB competition, but I stand by the assertion that Herbert on the Phins
with the Phins Defense would have AT LEAST won as many games as TUA... IMO. Probably a lot more because Herbert has Dan Marino like production.
Looked at another way: Is Tua going to command a 50 mill plus a year contract? I doubt it.
Not unless he has a stellar season this season IMO. And unless and until he proves he can stay healthy and be consistently productive. Like Herbert.
We shall see.

Hebert can't get enough study time when it comes to football. Now he is in a QB friendly system. The only thing holding him back is the Chargers reliance on possession receivers. If he had a Jefferson or Tyreek that offense would be scary!

Re: Dolphins' record predicitons
shoutout to finskev, HalCHorn and me for getting the record right.
JMP would've been correct had they won last night (or against Tennessee).
and the award to the most far off goes to DF316...yet oddly enough after last night, his prediction seems the closest to reality.

Thanks for bringing this post back up. Always cool to revisit these things.
Re: Dolphins' record predicitons
What's so frustrating is that we lost very winnable games vs. the Chiefs, Titans and Bills. We could very easily be 14-3 and sitting pretty at #1.
Re: Dolphins' record predicitons
Titans was the worse. Not only our defensive collapse, but offense failing to ice it by killing the clock.

With the benefit of hindsight and context, that was the loss that likely cost us a chance to advance.
If that game is won, then once the Baltimore game gets out of hand, we can safely bench everyone, knowing we have the 2 seed locked up and no chance to advance to the 1 seed. Say, by the third quarter. Then it's simple. Scrubs play the rest of that game and the Bills game.
We still have Chubb, Van Ginkel, and Baker among others ready to go for the first playoff game because none of them were on the field and they'll all be rested and ready to go for whoever, be it Buffalo or Pitt.
