So it looks like Miami might not have been as happy with some of the 4th and 5th round picks as some of you guys.

Dave Hyde wrote:Three times just before the Dolphins picked on Saturday, the player they wanted was taken right before them, a source said. So if they felt fortunate to have DeVante Parker drop to them in the first round, they were feeling a little less fortunate coming out of the final rounds.

i'm guessing that rather than Jamil Douglas in the 4th they wanted one (or maybe any) of TJ Clemmings, Tre' Jackson or Arie Kouandjio.

and in the 5th, the probably wanted Mykkele Thompson, but then selected Bobby McCain (who they would’ve selected with their 2nd fifth rounder) and later took Cedric Thompson as the make-up for missing out on Mykkele.

and then the LBer they missed out on with their later 5th rounder was Kyle Emanuel from ND St (same as Billy Turner) whom they had brought in for a workout.

I heard or read somewhere (not sure where) that the Phins wanted Tre Jackson at 114, who was chosen by the Patriots at 111. Jackson would have been an excellent pick IMO. I think he's a plug and play guard. Personally, I'm not convinced that Jamil Douglas will even beat out Dallas Thomas.

I like Mykkele Thompson a helluva lot more than I do Ced Thompson...too bad we couldn't get Mykkele.

Too bad they couldn't have traded up in the 5th using some of their stockpile. This is what happens when you don't just go ahead and take a guard in the second. Every draft mistake creates a ripple effect that causes a team to have to compensate for it.

(Sighs.)

Oh well, at least picking this Jackson guy 3 spots ahead of the Fins isn't what's going to be the reason why the Pats finish well ahead of them yet again.
