Re: SACKSEER
One issue to consider with some of these pass rushers is that, unless things change, the Dolphins really don't blitz their LBs all that much (unless you count the useless Kiko Alonso run blitzes...ugh). So if we draft a pass rusher and out him at OLB, are we going to be able to take advantage of his skillset? Guys like Tak and Harris could be great as pass rush specialists on 4-3 teams that blitz their OLBs...but that's not the Dolphins.
Otherwise, they seem too small to be DEs in our scheme. If you look at the Dolphin DEs that Tannenbaum/Gase added the last two offseasons, Branch is 6'5", 263 and Hayes is 6'3", 278 - I think they prefer these bigger-bodied DEs over the smaller, more athletic guys - again, why I think Taco could be the pick. I'd rather go for speed, because our D is sloooooowwww...but I'm not sure the Phins will go that way.

Yeah that's a great point. You can't believe anything this kind of year, but Mando wrote up something about Burke tweaking the scheme a bit to allow for flexibility in the size of the defensive ends, while scheming to stop the run anyways.
Is it smoke? Who knows, maybe one of those things just thrown out to put doubt in other front offices about who we may or may not select.
Or, it could really be that Burke is not just a place holder but an actual thinker with his own philosophy and idea on how to implement the scheme he wants. Apparently, it was not by happenstance he was here and ready for a promotion. It happened so quickly it almost certainly was pre-planned by Gase. He knew full well the reputation Vance Joseph had, and the risk of losing him to a head coaching job elsewhere.

Oh, Gase definitely brought Burke on as the future DC, knowing that Joseph wouldn't last long. I just don't know what Burke really brings to the table. He hasn't had much success as an LB coach as far as I can see, and I don't think he's going to make big changes because Gase is so hung-up on "continuity". But I guess we'll start to learn more in the next couple of days as we see what the Phins do with their defensive selections.
