Drake leaves Dolphins practice with possible concussion
apparently happened in a very similar way as Ajayi's...

Kenyan Drake went down after being on the receiving end of a flush, helmet-to-helmet hit from corner Torry McTyer during team drills. Drake stayed on the ground for a while before being helped to the locker room, at times using an athletic trainer as a crutch.

Ugh...the hits just keep on coming. Literally.
And Julius Thomas isn't practicing because of a back issue. Hopefully not a big deal, but he missed multiple games with a back injury last year so it is something to keep an eye on.
On the bright side, Jay Ajayi is apparently close to returning to full speed - although he is still in the concussion protocol.

On Drake, with our preseason experience it could be worse.
At this point at least it's possible he's back for week 1. Better than others have fared.

To me, the issue with both Ajayi and Drake isn't missing time in preseason - it's the risk of more concussions moving forward. Especially with Ajayi, who is a lower-the-head back that doesn't avoid contact.
Re: Drake leaves Dolphins practice with possible concussion
Well Ajayi has been cleared from concussion protocol today, according to reports on Twitter.
So Drake out, Ajayi back in.
On a related note, damn our defense must be thumping, hope they bring that to the regular season!

i hope your right. but my fear is that both the hits that put our RB's out would've drawn 15-yard helmet to the head flags. thumping them in the chest is one thing, shots to the head keeps our defense on the field.
i wonder...
Gase joked that he wanted to attack Kenyan Drake at times in the past because of occasional missteps, from tardiness to not making the right read.
The problem, running backs coach Danny Barrett admitted, ranged from taking “things for granted” or not finishing plays or “just not being where you’re supposed to be.

...if Drake's lazy attitude and not finishing plays contribute to him taking a bad hit?

Agreed - sounds like both hits would have been flagged. Playing tough and aggressive is great, but you also have to play smart.
On Drake, he was never a starter in college...maybe his attitude is a reason why. (He also played behind some great backs, but still...you've got to wonder where his head is at based on these comments.)
Good to have Ajayi back, but like I said - I hope the concussions don't become an issue.
Re: Drake leaves Dolphins practice with possible concussion
Maybe the Fins can sign this guy? He's better than any RB on the roster not named Ajayi. And he's coming off a major injury to boot so I'd be shocked if they weren't on the phone to his agent as I type this.

Matthews is ALWAYS injured...so yeah, he'd fit right in.
