Rowe has really done a nice job since moving to safety, and he can play every single position in the secondary. Solid signing with very low guaranteed money.

Apparently it is essentially a one-year deal, with team options for years 2 and 3. I think that's a perfect contract for Rowe - let him earn his place on the team.

You sign guys BEFORE they have all the leverage, and that's key to managing the salary cap.
We always waited until our better players were poised for a free agency pay day and then tried to negotiate. That's backwards.

We know more about these guys than anyone in the league. Use that knowledge and extend players while the gauranteed money is an attractive risk-avoiding vehicle for the player, and get them below market value.
