Phins select RB Kenyan Drake in round 3
Pretty good player, though I am not a big fan. He does too much 'backfield dancing' for my liking. Should help immediately in the return game, but looks like a 3rd down back to me. Kind of a "meh" pick for me, though I certainly think he can help as a role player.

And Ronnie Clown announced it.

it is interesting that they went after this guy and not someone else. There is a lot of RB still available that better.

Gase tends to like RB's who are versatile. Looks like a RB by committee with Ajayi slated to get 200-220 carries.
Hate not having the fourth rounder now. Lots of interesting options will be available.

Wait...there was a SECOND RB from Alabama in this draft?!?!
Naturally they take the one guy at the position I've never heard of, as opposed to anybody I'd heard good things about. So typical.
Bleh.

Injury prone but has big play capability. I wanted Howard

Like i said, I think he's a role player. This is a very Fireland-esque pick. Ignore starting-caliber talent to draft backups and role players.
Re: Phins select RB Kenyan Drake in round 3
He does a lot of things well, but considering our need at starting RB, it seems like a bit of a reach where they got him.

Had him as my third rated RB.

How is he in blitz pickup? Looks like he's damn good out of the backfield as a receiver, and special teams seems like a real area of talent. Is this a platoon guy, or a situational third-down/passing down player?

Supposedly Ajayi is going to be the starter so going after this guy will make some competition

They expect Ajayi to hold up to a starting back's physical demands? Interesting. Drake will be starting right about the same time Albert goes down with his annual injury in Week 4.

Don't expect this team to have an actual plan or vision. Too much to ask.

He adequate in pass protection. I think he'll pack on some weight and be 220# Reggie Bush. Hopefully without the injuries. Keep in mind Gase and Saban are buddies.

One of our real weaknesses last year was RBs that could block, but then again, we also had that issue with OGs.

Right now, Drake is not very good in pass pro. He'll have to improve a lot in that area to get 3rd down reps. Then again, Ajayi and Damian Williams aren't all that great in pass pro either...

nobody out of college is. That is part of the reason Zeke is the best back to come out since AP.

Still not worth drafting at 4. You only take guys that high who will win you playoff games. Vikings have just one playoff win in AP's entire career and that one was only because of Favre. AP ran for 63 yards in that win BTW.
Elliott can be the best RB of all time but in today's league without a franchise QB the Boys still aren't winning squat. Hell, they only have two postseason wins with Romo

Yep, but if you are going to be a 3rd down back you better learn how to block or you won't play.

Wasn't that Philbin's issue with Miller? Or did he just not like the guy? Methinks it might have been a combination of both
At any rate, this guy doesn't seem capable of replacing Miller to me. Not durable enough, for one thing.

Both of Drake's injuries were freak injuries. The guys that bug me are the ones like Misi who ALWAYS have a nagging injury. Drake's injuries really held him back in the weight room. I'm looking for him to be at around 220 by the time the season starts. Also as I said before, Gase and Saban are tight. I'm pretty sure Miami knows what they're getting.

Drake is a specialist 3rd down back IMO.
Ajayi and the others will have to carry the load.

Yep...and we better hope Ajayi and Drake stay healthy, otherwise we could be looking at Daniel Thomas starting!
