Already without one of their best defensive players in Reshad Jones, the Miami Dolphins have lost their other starting safety for the duration of the season.
According to a source, the Dolphins intend to place Isa Abdul-Quddus on season-ending injured reserve after he sustained an injury in the neck and shoulder region on Saturday against Buffalo.

The Dolphins plan to promote undrafted rookie A.J. Hendy from their practice squad to replace him, according to a league source.

[Update: The Dolphins just announced the aforementioned news.]

Players on injured reserve are not eligible to return for postseason.

Well, that sucks.  IAQ has been up and down this season, but he's certainly the best safety we have without Jones.  This is a big loss to an already-thin secondary. Bacarri Rambo and Micahel Thomas have both been borderline-awful, and this doesn't bode well if we have to head to Pittsburgh.

On the plus side, I do like A.J. Hendy's upside.  I don't expect him to get much playing time, but any reps he gets will help him in the future.

Damn we have to try and cover up the fact that both safety's suck instead of just one, Brady is going to be licking his chops when looks over the line and see our safety's and who they are.

If you don't get to and hit Tom Brady , secondary play is irrelevant. I don't care if you have 5 Hall of Famers. You have to get to Brady.

Now where it's really going to hurt is against Pittsburgh. Old Rothliesburger holds the ball forever and really doesn't care if he gets hit.

Exactly Birdmond, Miami DL needs to go out and punish Brady like he came home with all F on his report card. unfortunately who else is there to help Miami's secondary when Rambo or Thomas sucks???? Aikens, he only good on special teams. Miami is going to have a hard time in the playoffs.

Lets hope Miami can make it two in a row next year. Maybe even start and finish strong.

It sounds good on paper, but the reality is that getting to Brady is easier said than done.  He gets the ball out so damn quickly that it's almost impossible to pressure him.  I'd expect Edelman to have a huge day catching passes over the middle...there's no way we can stop it.
