Re: Post Combine Mock Draft
Interesting that you have a TE and not a LB. I don't see the Phins drafting a TE at all...they have no room for another one. And I think they'll have to draft a LB at some point - way too thin there.
I like the Danny Isidora pick. He looks like he'll be a solid NFL starter - maybe not a Pro Bowler, but he'll get the job done.

Like Coley. Think he'll be a solid pro. Probably similar to his ex-teammates Dorsett and Hurns. I was never a fan of Isidora. Seems like he has been in the Canes system for 10 years. Or, am I thinking of Figuroea? Regardless, many of the Canes recent lineman are Pillsbury Dough Boys. Big on brawn (especially in the mid-section), but not too physical. Just my feeling on Canes O'linemen recently.

I agree BUT I think Kittle will be the steal of the draft.

He may be, but if the Phins drafted him he'd likely be inactive all season. Well, at least until Thomas gets injured.

Coley should have been a superstar at UM. I'm not sure if the coaches held him back or if he just couldn't put it together. I tend to put a lot of that on the coaches. But - the sky is the limit with him. I think he could be an excellent NFL player if he lands in the right spot.
I like Isidora. I think he's more physical than the other UM OL you reference, and watching him during the Senior Bowl I thought he showed good technique and strength. Again, not a star, but good enough to be a solid long-term starter IMO.

IMO, Miami will get a TE just in case one of them does not pan out

Maybe in the 6th or 7th round to compete for a practice squad spot with Duarte. The top three TE spots are set, so anyone we draft is going to be stuck at #4 or 5 on the depth chart and will either be inactive on game days or (more likely) spend the season on the PS. That's why I don't see us drafting a TE at all. If Howard fell to 22, maybe the Phins would consider him because of value - but that's never going to happen.
Re: Post Combine Mock Draft
Kiper's mock that I just saw scrolling across the bottom of my screen says the Fins make Forrest Lamp their first pick. Makes sense 'cause he's a guard and stuff, but does anybody here really think he's worth it?

I do think Lamp is a very good prospect and could solve one of the Phins' guard spots for years. But...he's a guard. I don't see any reason to draft a guard in round one, because you can find quality starting guards anywhere in the draft.
Then again, this is the Dolphins - who can't find a good lineman unless they draft one in round 1 or pay a small fortune to a free agent.
The way the Phins handled free agency, it seems to me like they'll target safety or defensive end (or maybe CB) at pick 22. It doesn't seem like this staff places much value on guards, so I'd be surprised to see them take one at 22. But who knows - maybe they really like Lamp???
Re: Post Combine Mock Draft
Agree. I'm thinking defensive end round 1. Linebacker close second. I'm also still not ruling out tight end if there's a run on defense.

LB and TE wouldn't make sense.
At LB, we have Timmons and Alonso locked up for two years with pretty high guaranteed money. We also have Misi locked up with a decent amount of guaranteed money this season, and that small CFL LB (Deon Lacey) that the team supposedly loves. We only use 2 LBs over 70% of the time, so that means any LB we draft will at best be a part-time player for at least two years. You don't use a first round pick on a part-time player...or at least, you shouldn't. (Of course, any DE we take will also be a part-time player because of the money we have tied up in Wake, Branch and Hayes...but at least a pass rusher will have a chance to see the field much more than a reserve LB.)
At TE, we are already 3 deep with Thomas, Fasano and Gray. Using a first round pick on a TE that won't see the field at all in year one would be a waste. I also don't think there's going to be any TE value at 22. Howard will be long gone, and I expect Njoku to go in the low teens.
It's possible that we draft a LB late, but it will just be a developmental prospect/special teamer IMO. I don't think we'll pick a TE at all.
Never say never with the Dolphins, because I don't understand most of the moves they make, but taking LB or TE early really doesn't fit with how this roster has been built.

I think Kittle could beat out anyone on the roster but unless Miami trades down and gets more picks I have to believe the only offensive players drafted will be OL.

Chances are, one of the CBs is gonna be the highest rated player on the board IMO.
Would the Phins stick with the board, or go for need. Going for need sometimes works out, but if your rating system is worth a toot, you should stick with it.

I could definitely see a CB as a possible pick, or a safety for that matter. Depending on how the board falls. I'm sure the front office would love to hoard value at CB, it's a very important position.

With the way that the pro days have been happening for some players Miami could get anyone.

Re: Post Combine Mock Draft
Round 2 Pick 4 (CHI): Forrest Lamp, OG/OT, Western Kentucky (A-)
Round 2 Pick 8 (CAR): TreDavious White, CB, LSU (A)
Round 2 Pick 25 (HOU): Tyus Bowser, OLB, Houston (A-)
Round 3 Pick 12 (N.O.): Marcus Williams, FS, Utah (A+)
Round 3 Pick 26 (SEA): Trey Hendrickson, DE, Florida Atlantic (A)
Round 3 Pick 33 (COMP): Tyler Orlosky, C, West Virginia (A+)
Round 3 Pick 42 (SEA): Anthony Walker Jr., ILB, Northwestern (A-)
Round 4 Pick 4 (CHI): Jake Butt, TE, Michigan (A)
Round 5 Pick 22: Dan Skipper, OT, Arkansas (A)
Round 7 Pick 5: Stacy Coley, WR, Miami (Fla.) (A)
Made some trades, got out of the first and acquired a lot more picks in the middle rounds. Quality players were available but I would not be disappointed with this draft.

White in the second round would be a miracle. I like Hendrickson as a guy that can develop into a future starter.

Which draft simulator is this one again? Apparently I never saved the link from a few years ago.

God I love this draft. Kittle and Elder are two of my favorites. And I do love Lamp.
