Glad we kept Walt Aikens. Excellent special teams player...just too bad he's useless on defense.

Special Teams is important. Aikens is capable in a pinch but you’re right not so productive when getting a lot of snaps. Depending on your POV i don’t see Miami spending big on FA’s. I think they should stick to the plan of clearing bad contracts and getting rid of injury prone/high priced players.

I think next offseason is the year they'll spend big, assuming this group is still in charge. Next year they'll have the cap space to make the splash moves that Tannenbaum loves.

I am almost hoping you said it sarcastically.....LOL, I’m hoping that in the end these are the right moves for the wrong reasons that gets these bums fired and then we bring in a coach with a clean roster and a fat ass check.

You probably already know...but that's my dream!  I want these guys the hell out of Miami!!

Tannenbaum's FA moves never work out, so you could totally see Quinn and Sitton on IR, Kilgore and Wilson totally sucking, Amendola getting a concussion and the DTs looking like Swiss cheese.  None of that would surprise me, at all.

And...Landry scoring double-digit TDs as the Browns make a playoff run and the Phins finish below .500.

I wouldn't be surprised if Miami goes under .500, but I would be surprised at a Browns playoff run

It is certainly not shaping up like a good season, but....

I heard from a phellow Phin Phan the other day who said Pouncey and Suh were PROBLEMS in as far
as team chemistry was a concern. Yeah, they played well, but it was all about THEM, and they cared not one whit for
building team chemistry?

Some of the backups on the Line actively DESPISED Pouncey he said!

And SUh never fit in, and did not seem to care if there was D-line cohesion or not! I know the whole "training away from team and missing OTAs" was point of contention.

If a player is counted on to be a team leader or a position leader, and he acts like he is disinterested....

If this is true, it would explain a lot.

Why a team with more talent loses to a less talented team for example? Coaching and bad team chemistry perhaps?

I still remember the 1995 Phins team I think it was....loaded with #1 draft picks....and totally shyte the bed due to a locker room full of active hatred.

SO...Maybe...just perchance...if they can get the team chemistry issue fixed....if Gase can "QB Whisper" Tannehill into a middle of the pack QB....and of the defense can find a way to not totally stink.....

It is a long shot IMHO. Given Tannebaum's record in free agency, and the even more deplorable drafting the team has done lately, I would say it is a huge long shot.

But long shots do occasionally pay off.

Think I'll run out and buy some Mega Million tickets.

Smile

Keep the Phaith!

Suh supposedly went out of his way to try to get Phillips to work with him in the offseason, but Phillips wasn't always receptive. Ultimately I do believe Suh is all about the $$, but regardless, he is a damn good player.

It would take that plus a miracle to "fix" Phillips. Watch his contract year. Will be the highest level he ever plays at. Woe to the team who signs him after his rookie deal expires...

Yep, I agree.

In other news, the Dolphins are looking at RB DeMarco Murray. Still a good blocker, receiver and goal-line back - but he's 30 years old and coming off one of the worst seasons of his career. I get the whole "veteran leadership" angle, but in a draft that's loaded with quality RBs I'd rather go in that direction than sign a declining vet.

Not a fan of high-priced FA signings, but I like the idea of signing Murray. But to think about it, he sounds like a pats type of signing. Just hope he is not the next Arian Foster.

I’ll take Drake Murray and a rookie rb that’s my preferred depth chart

I’d like to take Mark Walton from the U in the 4th or 5th. His lack of speed and injury last year will hurt his draft stock. Could be a sleeper.

I'd love to have Walton, but I'm worried about his durability.

Plenty of good RB's in this draft, several will be good values like Ajayi was. Pass.

Could end up like Gurley but at the same time most players don't come back from all injuries

not really FA news, but a move that affect FA...

On Sunday, $3 million of Wake’s $8 million base salary for 2018 became fully guaranteed, which means that Miami’s pass-rushing specialist will be on the Dolphins’ roster unless he’s traded.

And it is quite possible that the Dolphins will extend Wake’s contract one more season, creating additional cap space

I think the Dolphins should take a chance on getting Kaepernick in for a workout. He would definitely be cheap.

Even WITHOUT the whole kneeling protest thing, the castro shirt issue is probably even a BIGGER issue in Miami, with the huge Hispanic population. No way they touch him.

I understand the issue scot. I really do. Not at all trying to be insensitive to the Cuban Americans at all. I just think football is football. And politics is politics. I think Football is the bottom line. Trumps still president so there should be hope for Kaepernick.

Yes, but above all, Ross is a businessman. I am not talking about the political aspect of it, I mean dollars and cents. Go to a game in Miami and take note of how many Hispanics attend. Quite a few. Don’t know the percentages, but it must be a big amount.

Bring kapernik in, and to lose that fan base. Or to put it another way, you lose their money.

I don’t think Ross wants to lose that money.
