so what they don't tell you is that he was a loser as a head coach but always found his way to good teams as an OC

That Jets offense in 2015 with Fitzpatrick, Gailey and new Phins OL coach Steve Marshall was great. Hopefully we can get close to that level in 2020.
The main thing to me is we need a running game - and Gailey and Marshall will make that a priority IMO.

The beat writers have alluded to this, and so has Flores. Personally, I think our horrible running game had a huge hand in O'Shea firing.
Clearly coaching receivers in NE he knew how to craft a good passing attack. The running game was embarrassing. Flores "vision" is a strong running attack, top-10 defense and a QB that can make clutch plays on big downs (3rd down, 4th down, red zone, 4th quarter). New England was always a defense and running driven team, with the mirage that it was all Tom Brady. Brady is the definition of clutch, but let's be honest, many Superbowls were won with that defense and a good running game. New England was deceptively physical.
The 49ers and Titans (among others) are playoff teams that proved an effective running game pays dividends in the post season. Flores vision matches what they've done.
The Gailey hire is exactly what we need, and I'm thrilled we got an OL coach and QB coach that know his offense. Additionally, incumbent WR coach Dorrell has also worked on his staff, so that's yet another guy who knows him.
I have no doubt we will run the ball much better in 2020, not only due to personnel upgrades but scheme and dedication to the running game.
I don't know if this is a luxury pick, but with a late 1st round pick I'd love to see us grab DeAndre Swift from UGA. Great back with explosive ability from anywhere on the field.

Great post, white. I'm in total agreement on the coaching moves and what it will mean moving forward.
My only thing with Swift is this: do we need to take a RB in the 1st when it's such a deep group? Swift is great but I think we can get a comparable back in rounds 2 or 3 - and maybe even 4 with this group. But - I'm never going to complain about adding playmaker, so if Swift is the pick I'm cool.
