Re: 2022 Schedule
Not a bad schedule overall, but it does get brutal toward the end.
My brother and I are planning on going to a game. We're looking at the Sunday night game against the Steelers on Oct. 23, but I just have to free up my schedule first. That night they are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Perfect Season!!

Man, that would be good game to go to.
Fall is my busy time at work and I cannot take any time off.

Re: 2022 Schedule
i never get too worked up about the schedule. it is what it is. two 1:00 home games in September heat against division rivals is nice. back to back west coast games followed by a trip to Buffalo is going to be tough.

I heard the NFL might wait until next year to do the Deshawn decision. His agent and the Browns made the bogus contract with no salary this year and a huge jump next year. NFL might "wait" out the civil case and stick it to him next season.

The only thing the NFL is waiting out is people's attention spans. They know that a year from now everybody will have forgotten all about Watson, mainly because by then 3 or 4 more major crises will have happened in the world or just America in general.
Believe all women...unless they accuse men the far left likes, then they're liars. Wokeism is crumbling, every day more people see through the veil of deception. If I'm a fan I refuse to attend any game Watson plays. Booing is useless, since if you show up to boo the NFL already has your money and won't care. Booing just gives Watson power over you he doesn't deserve. We've already seen how non-attendance can impact the NFL, it significantly lowered the cap for a year. The NFL assumes they can keep on doing shit like this and generally staying "woke" and the cap will jump up hugely since fans will be grateful for being allowed to attend games again. I think they're assuming way too much. Â
Also, schedule schmedule. This team would've been in the playoffs had they not lost to the Jags AND Falcons last season. The road loss to the Raiders was also a very winnable game if not for the single worst play call by an OC in NFL history. Tua's already beaten the mighty QB gods Kyler Murray, Justin Herbert and Lamar Jackson head to head. The Fins need to worry about themselves and how well THEY play, because that's literally the only thing that matters. Also, it would be a good idea not to start 1-7 this time.

Re: 2022 Schedule
At least there's no 2002-level chicanery with the NFL giving the Fins back to back short weeks where they played on Monday then Sunday then Saturday. I'm still convinced that was deliberate to make it harder for them to reach the playoffs because all their blowout postseason losses in the previous few seasons were bad for TV ratings.

Turns out no chicanery was needed in 2002, Wanny didn’t need any help blowing a sure playoff shot in the drivers seat with 2 games to go

This is why all the people who blame Ray Lucas for '02 are misguided. With 2 games left the Fins were actually in line for a bye believe it or not, and at 9-5 were coming off a win over the 9-5 Raiders. Had that season ended after 14 games I'm not sure if they'd have been the 1 seed or not since the Titans and Colts were also 9-5 but the Fins beat the Colts that year and thus had the tiebreaker over two of the other three teams.
But two straight short weeks--which the NFL schedule makers also gave to the Fins in '01--didn't help. And I don't recall any other team having that kind of schedule quirk since without weather being involved.

I remember a Thursday night Bengals game...everybody on the old Fin Forum board was panicking late but I told you guys to calm down, the Fins were going to win, and sure enough they set it to OT and good old Cam Wake, my favorite player from that time, won it with a walkoff safety

We won't talk about the next Thursday night game between these teams, or the hideous uniform combo. Nope. That game didn't happen as far as I'm concerned.

I kinda liked those all orange units. The white helmet should have been orange too.

Re: 2022 Schedule
I've said this too many times to count, but the all-orange unis are an abomination and should be wiped off the planet, never to be seen again. I only wish it was possible to un-see them.
Re: 2022 Schedule
Hate the all orange. I think it all is on Tua if he is good we will be a playoff contender. Pieces are there.

I think we split with the playoff teams. 5-5. 5-2 against non playoff teams.

Re: 2022 Schedule
I can easily see a 12+ win season with this schedule. 10 wins would be a huge disappointment for me.
Re: 2022 Schedule
I'm with JMP, only minor disagreement I would be happy with 11 wins and a playoff berth. Especially if we finish the season strong, playing our best football at the end of the year.
If we win less than 10, miss the playoffs, to me that means Tua would not be playing at the level we think and hope he will be.
Barring injuries of course. A string of injuries to key starters will derail any team, hopefully won't be us.

Re: 2022 Schedule
Strange to say this, but the critical game of the entire season is week 3. We have to hold serve against Buffalo at home in the heat to have any hope of breaking their current stronghold on the division.
Lose that one and we're probably playing for a wild card, with the second game being in Buffalo and closing out a three game road stretch in likely freezing weather.

This team hasn't won as many as 12 games in a season for 32 years and you expect them to do it NOW?!?!
I'll be happy with getting to the playoffs, period. A playoff win would be nice, but I'm not thinking that far ahead. You do realize that only two AFC teams won 12 games last season and the team that reached the Super Bowl only had 10, right? The big, bad Bills had 11! Even the Rams "only" had 12 wins.

Re: 2022 Schedule
Hey, get to the playoffs and anything can happen. As Cincinnati proved last year, it's all about who's hot at the time.
The closing streak of 6 with that 3 game road trip is brutal looking in December. To win 12 we really need to take advantage of that pre-December schedule. 9-2 would be needed IMO. I'm thinking 11-6 is a likely outcome assuming good progress made in the new offensive system, and that gets us into the playoffs. Anything less, and...well, we do have 5 picks in the first 3 rounds next year.

Yep, I expect them to get to 12+ wins now. I don't care about what happened in the past - that has no bearing on the upcoming season. There are a lot of "easy" games on the schedule, and the Phins also now have a roster that can compete with the top teams. I fully expect them to legitimately compete for the division.
Re: 2022 Schedule
I do not see how ANYONE can assume the Phins will be playing at ANYTHING like last year's performance. That makes any guesses about wins and losses even more wild-arsed than the usual WAGS IMO.
ONE - Who can say for certain just how good a HC McDaniel is going to be. He may be more a Cameron than a Shula! I doubt it, but who knows? He t'aint never been the head man on the sidelines a'fore.
TWO - Along with the above, we can ASSUME that the Offensive staff changes will result in a better offense, but that remains to be seen. The offense t'aint never....
And the Biggie IMHO...
THREE - Is the defense going to be good, or stink it up like they did for much of the start of last season? Was that ALL ToxicTeamKiller's doing, or was it all on Boyer?
I am inclined to believe the offense is going to be much better depending upon just HOW MUCH better the O-line performs, but the one big, glaring question mark IMO is the defense! Was it all because of "TTK" Flores? Can Boyer bring out the same level of performance from the defense?
Who knows?
