Phins trade TE Shaheen - TRADE FALLS APART after failed physical

The Dolphins have traded tight end Adam Shaheen and a 2023 seventh-round pick to the Texans, the team announced Tuesday, recouping a 2023 sixth-rounder from Houston.

The team will save about $1.8 million by trading Shaheen and incur a dead cap charge of about $333,000.

nothing monumental, but a little something (the difference between a 6th and 7th) for a guy who most likely wasn't going to make the team anyways, plus a little bit of extra salary cap room.

Good trade. Move up a round, and dump some salary for a player that wasn't going to make the team anyway.

Shaheen did some good things for us, but with Long hopefully developing (???), Cethan Carter excelling on STs and the rookie Tanner Connor showing some upside, we didn't need him. Always good to get something instead of just releasing the player.

Is Shaheen still unvaxxed? That might be a problem if he's going to the Texans. They have standards, you know.

TE Adam Shaheen was failed in physical by the Texans, so the trade is off and he will return to the Dolphins. Shaheen was flagged for a preexisting knee condition. But he hasn't missed a day of training camp practice.

Conspiracy theory: Shaheen being unvaxxed really WAS a problem. The Texans refused to take him, but had him "fail the physical" to save face. I'm not joking, I really think this is what actually happened.

Hard to Fail a Physical when You haven’t missed a Practice in Training Camp. But they were scared that the Fins were going to Win another Trade with them.

Yeah, it's a strange situation. In the end, we'll probably just cut him. It was only a swap of late round picks, so not really a big deal.
