Bills' DC Leslie Frazier taking year off from coaching, plans to return in 2024

Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier is planning to step away from coaching for the 2023 season, the team announced Tuesday morning.

Frazier has been the Bills' DC for the past six seasons. In that time, his unit has ranked sixth or better in yards allowed four times and in the top two in points surrendered on three occasions.

The 63-year-old, who has also been a head coach for the Minnesota Vikings and coordinator with the Bengals and Buccaneers, plans to return to coaching in 2024.

Too bad he couldn't do this a month earlier so they could be in the Fangio Sweepstakes. Then again Bills fans hated Frazier anyway so in their eyes the team might be better off. All I have to say is, be careful what you wish for. Is Boyer still unemployed? They could always hire him...

Speaking of the Fangio Sweepstakes, I read today that Fangio was Sean Payton's #1 choice for DC, and the two had talked about coaching together. My guess is Fangio chose the Phins more as an anti-Broncos statement (they are the team that fired him after the 2021 season, after all) rather than a pro-Dolphins stance. But either way, I'm glad we got a top DC while Buffalo is losing a top DC!

And yes, supposedly a lot of delusional Bills fans are happy to see Frazier go...despite the Bills having a TOP TWO scoring defense in 3 of Frazier's 6 seasons with the team.

As I pointed out a while back, the amount of whining Bills fans do is so extreme it makes SJWs seem calm and reasonable by comparison!

The commenters at PFT seem to think the Bills fired Frazier without telling anybody they fired Frazier.

Strange...why not just fire him outright?

I haven't been able to find out how long Frazier's contract is. It would be interesting if this is the last year of his deal - which could mean the Bills pushed him out, or maybe he's just done with the Bills and their crybaby QB and fans?
