There's Really No Reason...
The draft couldn't have been held this weekend. And in fact from '88-02 it was held the third weekend of April, although prior to that in the '80s it was held at the end of April as it has been since '03.
Whatever's going on in the rest of sports is still going on next weekend too so what gives?
I've finally reached the point where predraft analysis fatigue is setting in, and I just want thetorture draft to be over and done with.

Yeah, I burned out about two weeks ago.
I am setting myself up to be highly disappointed though.
Grier seems to have that "I'm smarter than everybody else at this draft-thing" attitude IMO.
Which ain't a good thing for the Phins IMO.

They hardly ever pick the Player I really want in the 1st Round, Then when they do it with a Trade that might not have been needed like Waddle. I did want TUA & Waddle but after that the last 10 years that it.

when is the right time to post my annual gripe about the draft not being an all day Saturday affair anymore?

Any time between now and the draft would be good for me
Also, you are far from alone on that judging by what I've seen on the internet.
And Saturday does provide the "advantage" of being able to go to a club to drown your sorrows after finding out your team drafted a bust around noon. Much harder for people to do that on a weeknight if they want to keep their job. That's what I did in '97 after the Yatil Green pick sucked all the energy and enthusiasm out of me for the rest of the day. That was the first draft I actually watched fro the beginning on ESPN too How was I supposed to know it would set the tone for all future Fins drafts for the next 30 years or so? I only found out about the Madison and JT picks on a wall TV at the club...and I'd never heard of those guys. Predraft info in the mid-late 90s wasn't in the same universe as it would be just 5 years later let alone today.

I think I'll always be bitter about that.
