Burgess will be a beast on special teams at a minimum. We went to a few Louisville games this year. He's short but just destroys people. BTW, I'm not a Louisville fan, but it is an awesome place to see a football game.

Re: Undrafted FA
The rookie FA I am most interested in is linebacker Akil Blount. From what I can see, he is strong as an ox and makes plays all over the field. The Dolphins have no real depth at MLB, so I think Blount has a good shot at the final 53 if he shows anything on STs. Plus, having Mel Blount's son on the team would be pretty cool!

I think Hall and Vigil are in trouble. I think both Blount and Burgess make the team. I don't know anything about Gray, but someone I trust, Chris Kauffman, loves the guy.

Yeah, Hull and Vigil are very replaceable. Neither one stands out in any way.
It'll be interesting to see how LB plays out. You have to figure that Alonso, Misi, Jenkins and Hewitt are locks. I think Paysinger has a good shot to make the team because he's great on specials and has tons of NFL experience at LB. That probably leaves just one spot (maybe two if they keep 7), where we have quite a few young guys to battle it out...Blount, Burgess, Gray, Hull, Vigil...maybe even Dion Jordan if he gets reinstated. Performance on special teams this summer will be HUGE for these guys.

Jmp and Degarmo, imagine having a kid right now. Because Mel Blount was about your age(s) when he fathered Akil He's three years younger than my mom and yet has a kid who could (and should) be his grandson. Blows my mind.
What makes you think Hewitt's a lock? Because he shouldn't be.

Hewitt played very well at the end of the season and has really gotten in amazing physical condition over the off season. He's a lock.

I think Hewitt at least showed some potential, enough to keep around considering that we really have no one better among the younger players.
Re: Undrafted FA
Rashawn Scott and James Burgess might be my two that will do something on the team.

I love Rashawn Scott, but I don't think there's a spot for him on the 53. He'll probably end up on the practice squad. He's one of many Canes players that should have been much more productive in college than he actually was.

I read somewhere that Burgess is athletic enough to play safety. Him and Doughty are the two guys I'm pulling for.
