Two Players I want on the 53

Okay, here's where I stand.

From my vantage point, two players that are clearly "on the bubble" deserve a spot on this roster. If this is truly a MERITOCRACY, the term used earlier in the Gase - Grier - Tannebaum tenure, then this team MUST keep the following two players.

Isaih Pead. I mean, are you kidding me? Did you SEE Ajayi play last night? Or rather, hear about his performance. In limited action, he starts with a fumble on the first carry, then misses a catch and finishes with 3 rushes for 13 yards. Unfortunately for us, you can extrapolate that stat line ALL PRESEASON. He's done next to nothing in any game or practice (based on the practice reports I read) to justify winning the starting job. Pead has done the opposite. Constantly making plays in practice, and showing the best running skills in preseason games. EARNING his way to getting time with the starters up until he suffered the hamstring injury. If Ajayi makes this roster, cutting Pead is criminal. And Damien Williams? Don't get me started.

Julius Warmsley. Once again, have you heard anything from Earl Mitchell or Jordan Phillips? As in - ALL SUMMER?!?!? No? That's because they've done nothing. No tackles for loss, no sacks, no impact - NOTHING. With Mitchell, the "nothing" is literal as he's sat all August with an injury to his calf. WTF has he done to EARN a spot on this roster? So let me get this straight, we are going to cut Warmsley who leads the team in sacks, has 2 TFL in his preseason action, and whose performance is not limited to just games. No, let me make this clear - if you follow the beat writers on Twitter Warmsley is CONSTANTLY causing disruption in practice. He beat Bushrod so badly on a pass rush this week the only choice Bushrod had was to basically bear hug him to stop the sack. The dude can play. And he's on the bubble? Why? So we can make sure we have Earl Fucking Mitchell on the team?!

If this is a meritocracy, if this team has an eye for talent, these two players must stick on the 53. It's clear enough to anyone following the practice and game news, they have each performed at a high level, and easily out shined competitors for a roster spot. And they haven't done it with draft status or because they signed a big contract. They've done it the old fashioned way - making plays in both practices and in games. If they are released, it's a bad, bad sign for the team IMO.

Trade Matt Moore to the Vikings. I'm comfortable with Doughty. If Doughty can crack the books and speed up the learning curve I am certain he can take Tannehills job next season. Something about Doughty really intrigues me. Maybe just maybe he knew how take his relationship with Marino and transition it to football

I'd be fine with that move. For whatever reason (probably ticket sales) the team is working to maintain the illusion that we care about winning this year. So, we have to have a reliable backup.

I'm not buying it. The problem, as I see it, is that the Vikings probably don't view Moore as much of an upgrade. Move him for another 7th? Doesn't make much sense to me. The value for Miami probably exceeds what we'd get in return - in those cases trades don't happen.

I am thinking the same. Beside that they are really the only ones. There isn't too many players with Miami that I can say that I want to see stay

Can Matt Moore be traded at this point? I mean, will any team be willing to take him right now with his salary. Granted it's not a ton, but it's a couple million, right?

He might be of more value when someone gets hurt. Still, him being available and NO ONE wanting him at all is a really bad sign for wanting to move him at all.

Not sure it's as much a concern as a stark reality. He's a backup, but not an exceptional one. It's not like he'd start on 15 teams if released. He'd be a good backup for several teams if released.

Caps his value. That's all.

I absolutely love what their new GM is doing, he's done more to improve that team in one offseason than anybody has to improve the Fins in the last 15 years. Seriously, why can't Ross ever find anybody like this?

Warmsley is a lock, IMO. He's earned a spot without question.

Pead...not so sure. I'd put him on the roster without a doubt, and I'd cut Ajayi without a second thought. I don't like Drake either, but unfortunately he has to stay because he was drafted so damn high. But - it seems like the coaches like Ajayi and Williams for reasons I cannot comprehend...so I think Pead could be in trouble.

I wasn't a fan of Ajayi when he was drafted, and the more I see the more I think he flat-out sucks. I thought he'd at least be a good receiver because that was his strength in college, but he runs terrible routes and his hands have turned to stone.

Caps isn't his value.......his value is what other teams think it is!!!!! The Vikings were set to make a move. Moore isn't Teddy but at this point where you gonna find somebody else

Pead outplayed the other backs. Only poor health could keep him off IMO. PUP a possibility?

If Warmsley didn't earn a spot, then is it even possible to EARN one in camp?

After seeing last night's game, I think Doughty's poor showing in Dallas was an aberration. He clearly has more potential than Dysert.

Fede is out. Warmsley is healthy. We saw enough of Fede that we know what we have. Warmsley at this point has upside like Fede had comin into the league. With Suh, Phillips, Mitchell, Jones Wake, Branch, Williams. I don't see upside in keeping Fede.

Peas is a little different. IMHO he had a shot with Rams when he was healthy. Although he had some impressive runs I don't think that's enough. Foster, Drake are on this roster. Williams has value as a change of pace but has been in the league HEALTHY! I think they keep Williams as a fall back in case Drake does live up to injury prone evaluation he got. Don't get me wrong he's good when healthy but you can't do anything from the bench. Ajayi has a pretty good shot because of his north south style which is more of what this offense really needs. Just my opinion

All good points. Dt Chris jones just got cut so I think that is the spot given to warmsley.

At worse, Pead showed he should be no lower than two on the running back depth chart. I'll still be disappointed if he's cut.

Fede is nothing but a warm body. I have no idea how he's lasted as long as he has.

Only four more cuts Pead still alive!

Well they kept both warmsley and Pead - no complaints.

Miami would have been crazy if they cut Pead and Warmsley

No complaints. The two guys I felt earned a spot were kept, along with the young QB I thought showed some potential.

Roster still needs help in a lot of areas, and I'd still like to see an upgrade over Dallas Thomas.
