Re: Dolphins release, free agency and trades news
Another domino just fell IAQ is getting released due to failed physical.
Looks like we need a free safety to pair with Reshad, I'm hoping for someone still in their prime.

Would love to draft Bubba Baker or Peppers.

Releasing IAQ makes sense. And yeah, Baker or Peppers both work for me!
Re: Dolphins release, free agency and trades news
IAQ needs to retire. his injury is too bad

Looks like Miami is interested in Hightower.....
Rapp wrote:The Miami Dolphins have expressed interest in linebacker Dont'a Hightower, according to Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald.
Hightower, 26, was a linchpin for the New England Patriots defense in 2016, registering 65 tackles, 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble in 13 games. He was excellent in the team's three postseason contests, posting 13 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble.

$6 a year. Not sure if I like that or not

This draft is considered to be maybe the best draft ever for TEs. But instead of drafting one, we're paying $6 million to a guy that misses games every season and hasn't been productive since 2014. Can't say it enough: build through the draft. Picking up other teams' trash isn't going to get you a championship.
Re: Dolphins release, free agency and trades news
Just hoping that Miami goes after a TE anyway so that Fasano and Thomas get some real competition.

Well so much for Miami keeping Sims.
Richardson wrote:Thin at tight end, the Chicago Bears agreed to terms with former Miami Dolphins player Dion Sims.
At 6-foot-4, 271 pounds, Sims’ in-line blocking should help open holes for second-year running back Jordan Howard. The Bears made news by picking up free agent quarterback Mike Glennon, but the strength of Chicago’s offense in 2017 is likely to be their ground game.
Terms: Three-years, $18 million with $10 million guaranteed, according to the NFL Network.

I don't think they will. The position is set now with Thomas, Fasano and Gray. Plus, they have the waste-of-a-roster-space Duarte to sit on the practice squad. Maybe they bring in a developmental-type to compete with Duarte, but the top 3 TE slots are filled.
Re: Dolphins release, free agency and trades news
Remember the olden days of last month when Sims was definitely going to be the starter going into the season?

Armando's second post in as many days harping on going cheap on the OL...

...and slamming Suh in the process. did Ndamukong do something to piss Armando off?
I’ve watched the Dolphins play the Patriots twice a year for years and the past couple of seasons after Miami signed Ndamukong Suh to a $114 million contract, he’s been charged with making Tom Brady uncomfortable by charging straight up the middle and toward the quarterback.
The Patriots have generally answered this challenge by double-teamming Miami’s $19 million-per-year defensive tackle with a guard and center whose total combined salary for the year is less than what Suh makes in one game.
You know how many sacks Suh has collected against New England’s bargain interior line in four games? Half a sack.

What these beat writers don't understand is it hard to get off a double team no matter how good you are if there isn't any pressure from anyone else on the DL.
Miami might bring in another Safety to fill in for IAQ

Miami might bring in another Safety to fill in for IAQ
Jackson wrote:
The Dolphins, looking for a replacement for soon-to-be-released safety Isa Abdul Quddus, are bringing a former Philadelphia Eagles standout to team headquarters on Friday.
Nate Allen, who started 69 games for the Eagles over the first five years of his career, plans to visit with Dolphins officials on Friday, according to a league source.
Allen, 29, played the last two seasons with the Oakland Raiders.
Drafted 37th overall out of South Florida in 2010, Allen had 10 interceptions in five years as an Eagles starter.
He parlayed his very good 2014 season (which included four interceptions and three fumble recoveries) into a four-year, $23 million contract with the Oakland Raiders during the 2015 offseason.
But Allen torn his right MCL early in the 2015 season and was limited to five games and three starts the season. The Raiders released him last February to clear cap space but resigned him a few days later.
