Swanson is back
According to a source, the Dolphins signed center Travis Swanson, who was signed by Miami last week and cut a day later to make room for special teams ace Brandon Bolden.
The Dolphins released tight end Gavin Escobar to make room on the 53-man roster, per a source.
Swanson appeared in 53 games for Detroit the past four seasons, with 42 starts.
A former third-round pick by the Lions out of Arkansas in 2014, Swanson finished last season on injured reserve with a concussion, marking the second consecutive season he was diagnosed with a concussion.
He spent part of training camp with the Jets, who play host to the Dolphins on Sunday.

welcome back Travis. i don't know if he is any good, but this makes sense considering the Phins have no back-up center. and i guess the Phins don't need Escobar considering this offense doesn't use a TE in the passing game.
oh and the LS is hurt...
But Denney injured his shoulder during the game and had to be replaced by reserve tight end Durham Smythe, with backup long snapper Mike Hull on injured reserve.
“It’s the only one I wish nobody told me about,” Gase said in a playful manner regarding Denny’s injury. “I found out right before the ball was snapped, so that was interesting.”

It seems like Gase only pays attention to offense on game day, so it doesn't surprise me.
There was one play in the game Sunday where the refs needed to explain something to the Phins...can't remember the exact situation...penalty or challenge or something. Anyway, the ref went straight to Coach Rizzi - not Gase. I swear, I think Rizzi is more head coach than Gase during the games.
But yeah, that Denney injury would be a huge loss...hope it's not serious. You never notice the long snapper - until you have a bad one.
Re: Swanson is back
I'm not sure how good Swanson is, but I do think it's smart to have a veteran backup at center.
Re: Swanson is back
Good to see the backup for the oft injured high priced free agent is another oft-concussed free agent who the Lions let go.
SO DOLPHIN.
SO DOLPHIN.

Let be honest didn't we see this coming. Miami always has a way in finding players in FA that get injured after the first 4 games. this is nothing new.

I hope Swanson can play left guard, because Ted Larsen sure as hell can't. Man, he SUCKED today!
