Phins claim RB Phillip Lindsay

The Dolphins have claimed RB Phillip Lindsay off of waivers, per his agent @MikeMcCartney7.

Yet another small, mediocre back to add to the stable of small, mediocre backs we already have. I don't understand this signing at all, especially after we added Duke Johnson - who IMO is a much better all-around back than Lindsay. I guess this means Ahmed is gone?

He is fast. Or used to be.

Lindsey, Fuller, Watson. Let's get the band back together and become the Miami Texans.

Had a family member reach out to me saying how this kid just needs a shot. I know nothing about him.

He had his shot with the Broncos. He was pretty good his first couple of seasons, with a very good yards per carry average. But he's just a part-time player, and as I said, we already had 3 small backs...not sure why we need a 4th. Lindsay is definitely faster than the guys we have, but I'm not sure that's enough to make a difference with this crappy OL. I think we need a bigger back that can break tackles.

After just one game, I am on the Phillip Lindsay bandwagon. The game he had today, after being on the team for less than a week, was truly impressive.

Who was the player that caught Waddle from behind? That dude is fast.

I don't know, but you're right - Waddle was absolutely flying. I didn't think there was any way he'd get caught. Great play by the defender.CarsonChris wrote:Who was the player that caught Waddle from behind? That dude is fast.

I liked Linday's package. I really thought he was more decisive running the football. He didn't play like he was small.
The one thing that I have been noticing is that Gaskin is not so much a straight line runner. He moves sideways a lot with a split second of getting the ball on the RPO.
Last week Duke Johnson looked totally different from the backs we have on the roster. granted a small sample size but he looked like a downhill runner. so does lindsay. I think given the full week. Lindsay will be the starter and Gaskin will be regulated to 3rd downs,

These are running back tryouts. Not much will happen because the blocking sucks. The problem is the coaching. Everyone regressed from last year.

Absolutely. The run blocking wasn't any better yesterday. The two differences I saw yesterday: first - Lindsay was actually able to make people miss and showed some speed to the outside, and second - on the two TDs Gaskin greatly benefited from the formations and playcalling. So, I'd say that Lindsay is very different from the backs we have, and the success Gaskin had was mainly due to - finally - creative scheming to confuse the defense. Having Lindsay back there can certainly help, but long-term I'm not sure the creative playcallling is sustainable.
But yes, it is clear that every lineman we have has regressed big-time - and that is on coaching for sure.
