First annual merc mock
there is a mock draft everywhere you turn these day. hey, i can be just as wrong as the experts.
1. Melvin Gordon, RB, Wisconsin – with the Phins preferred picks of Trae Waynes, DeVante Parker and Todd Gurley off the board, they opt for the next highest rated difference maker in Gordon.
2. Stephone Anthony, ILB, Clemson – with the second half of the top echelon WRs gone in the bottom of the first round, the Phins hope this will allow them to bump Koa Misi back outside.
4. Dezmin Lewis, WR, Central Arkansas – maybe not a true burner, he has enough to gain separation and adds a little size to the WR room.
5. Charles Gaines, CB, Louisville – a fluid mover to mirror in Miami’s off-man coverage who needs a little more strength (hey, it worked for another slight Louisville product – Sam Madison).
5. Jake Ryan, OLB, Michigan – high-motor, super try-hard, character guy – just what the special teams needs.
6. Darryl Baldwin, OG, Ohio State – very strong college OT moves inside and has long range potential to be a versatile backup on the outside.
(gee, three Big 10 players, do you think maybe my alma mater Maryland was playing in a new conference this year?)

Not bad. You got three starters in Gordon, Malone and Baldwin. Ryan could surprise as well.

BTW, that's how you get a guard. 6th round.

I like Gordon a lot. I would not mind one bit if we ended up with him.
Baldwin would be great value for the spot. Gaines too.

One of my favorite mocks. I like Gaines a lot.
Assuming Parker, Waynes and Gurley are all gone by 14 - which is very possible - Gordon definitely makes a lot of sense.

I've heard some teams like Coleman more than Gordon.

The saddest part of the draft to me every year is seeing posters come up with better ones than the real Fins
