Breaking: Landry Traded For Bag Of Crap
Okay, not really. Not yet anyway. Although that trade might be going down even as I type this, the way this team is.
BTW this post was inspired by Jmp's line in the Ajayi thread.

Clarity - the crap is actually several bags of composted cow manure, which will work wonders on the poor turf on our home field. Much better field conditions is the return we get on this trade!

When you put it that way it actually would have more value than the 7th they'll probably get for him in real life. Which will be conditional, no doubt.

Well, here's a rumor. Landry for Hilton. Anyone be interested in that? I would.

I don’t think that can work for us cap wise

You mean the same Hilton that Ireland passed over in the 2012 draft so he could get that future Hall Of Famer Michael Egnew?

We barely have a million dollars in cap space this season...no way we could afford Hilton right now. Of course, if we hadn't signed Cutler, than it would be very doable.
Not sure Hilton even makes sense given our crap QB, crap OL and no running game. Hilton already has all that in Indy, and he is having an awful season.

WELL...he is averaging about twice as many yards per catch as Landry. But otherwise, yeah. 29 catches and one TD is far worse than I thought

I know all about Hilton this season...I traded Parker to rightchea in exchange for Hilton in our fantasy league before the season began! Not sure who got the best of that one! LOL
In this Dolphin offense, Hilton would probably average under 10 a catch too.

can we trade the front office or maybe the owner. something has to give. the Raiders,Rams and Jags have gotten better and miami is still behind the learning curve

For what it's worth - Josina Anderson at ESPN is reporting that the Phins told Landry this morning that he will NOT be traded.
Re: Breaking: Landry Traded For Bag Of Crap
Value on Landry makes this hard to pull off.
The Fins have to consider, if they fail to sign Landry in 2018 and he leaves via FA, that's a top compensatory pick easy. So a 3rd rounder in 2019. You would need at least a 4th round pick in 2018 to make that happen.
Plus, any team trading for Landry knows he's a 2017 rental, with the need to resign probably for big money to retain him longer term.
This probably won't work, too many variables and the value prop doesn't seem to balance.

Michael Lombardi of The Ringer reports that star wide receiver Jarvis Landry is being made available for the right compensation, a report echoed by BBC Radio’s Simon Clancy.

Landry is apparently very much available, but as of right now no teams are willing to meet Miami's asking price.

Comp picks are always at the back of the round, so even if we did get a 3rd or 4th round comp for losing Landry in free agency, that's more like an early 4th or 5th. If the Phins don't want to re-sign him, it would make much more sense to trade him today for a 3rd - which will be better than the comp pick.
I agree it's a tough trade for any team to make given Landry's pending free agency, but if a decent offer's on the table I think you have to do it - because without Ajayi this looks like a team that's about to hit a downward spiral. Might as well go all in and dump our best player while we still can.
Re: Breaking: Landry Traded For Bag Of Crap
The pats just got a 2nd rd pick from the 49ers for Garapalo. I bet they would love to put Landry in the slot. Can you imagine the numbers he would put up w/brady?

We aren't trading him to a division rival.
I just read Armando update, apparently Landry has been told he will not be traded.

Unfortunately Landry is going nowhere. Giving Landry 13 million per year or letting him walk for a 3rd round comp pick? I’ll take the pick.

Breaking News: Crap traded from Miami to Patriots for a jar of moose farts.
Moose farts announces retirement, bag of crap will start at tackle for the Patriots.

This right here is why I wish you could've posted earlier
As I understand it, the trade deadline just expired roughly 22 minutes ago, so Landry stays. For now. The way things are going I expect Gase to throw another hissyfit and just cut him outright next week.

Re: Breaking: Landry Traded For Bag Of Crap
Tannebaum is really testing my patience. This could get ugly real quick. If I take a middle of the road approach I can see upside and downside.
Ajayi - In the NFL is a prove me now game. Ajayi hasn’t been effective thus far. Ironically, his 3 200 yard games is what makes every team wanna stack the box. Remember this though, he had more 200 yard games than 100 yard games(2). So do the math 700 yards in 4 games, 500 yards in 10 full games. Hard to imagine that he is a keeper. He’s shown attitude issues last year and never really quite know if he got over them because of the success he had. Trading him for a 4th when we drafted him in the 5th may not be all that bad. If he’s complaining and being a disruption in the locker room because of touches only leads me to believe that he was playing for a contract this year instead of next. Rumors about his knee also have surfaced so if the touches are really a question than he must know that he needs his contract now then later. If Landry is going to be resigned then getting both the top rusher and the top receiver on the same type of mega deal would be nearly impossible. Especially with Suh’s contract ballooning next year.
Landry - This is the tricky part for me. Miami has options. In fact, they have “HAD” options for quite some time. His skill set lies in his hands and a knack for YAC. His route running.grade is incomplete IMHO. He’s been the QB’s check down route his entire career. His fire and gamer attitude is by far very isolated. He shows his spirit but it just seems that it’’s just not infectuos. Guys don’t seem to rally around his spirit. Anyway, they may have TRIED to trade him but my question lies in the HOW HARD? Essentially Landry is on a 8 game contract. He’s already said he will not negotiate during the season. Miami fucked it up when the laid and waited. No one and I mean No one would buy Landry for 8 games. Unless a team with playoff contention this year lost a wideout. If the season ended today, I don’t see any teams in the playoffs who would benefit from having Landry. This will probably benefit Landry more than anything. His health would be the only thing that would derail his top dollar pay out.
Gase really doesn’t like running the ball I think the reality set in this year that his running game is not what it really seemed. He’d rather play and uptempo passing game, with an emphasis on medium and short passing to control the line of scrimmage. Williams out of the backfield is a much better pass catcher than Ajayi. I think this frees up the LOS and gives the OL some relief more space for the short passing game for sure.
Just some thoughts from my perspecitve

Re: Breaking: Landry Traded For Bag Of Crap
Here's the thing with Ajayi.
He's run behind a legendarily shitty offensive line. This is All-Madden Shithouse bad.
You give him solid blocking, and he can give you some real heavy downhill running. It's another weapon for defenses to have to contend with.
I wonder what we'll get for that 4th rounder, because if it's not a starting-caliber player, then this trade is a waste.
EDIT: Also, Gase's offense appears to be 3-yard-passes and a cloud of crap. I don't think he knows what he wants. If you're going to play like that, why not work Drake and Grant into the mix a ton more? I mean, if it's all YAC, get the ball to guys who can do something after the catch.
