Compensatory picks - not so good Empty Compensatory picks - not so good

The Dolphins’ compensatory draft pick haul ended up being less than they originally hoped, and probably expected.

The NFL awarded Miami a fourth-round (141st overall) and a seventh-round (251st) pick for losing Ja’Wuan James, Frank Gore, Cameron Wake and others to free agency in the 2019 offseason. The success of Ryan Fitzpatrick and injuries to James and Wake mitigated what could have been a larger prize.

and of course the Patriots made out the best...

The Patriots have a league-high and league-maximum of four — two third-round choices and two sixth-round selections. New England lost Malcom Brown, Trent Brown, Trey Flowers, Chris Hogan, Cordarrelle Patterson, Eric Rowe and LaAdrian Waddle. It added Brandon Bolden.

Wow just keep rewarding the Pats so they can keep getting better. Surprised they didn't get one for Flores and O'Shea

That's our plan for the future - let high paid FAs walk and replace them with guys we drafted, and don't sign too many high priced FAs. Then we get more (and better) comp picks. We have a few years to go before we get to that point.

As far as this year, we got screwed with the James and Wake injuries.

Yeah but how do you think Denver feels after year 1 handing James that huge contract?

Tannehill was traded so no comp pick for him, I had forgotten that little detail. He would've fetched at least a 4th surely and maybe even a 3rd.

Believe it or not there are actually Pats fans who think the NFL is constantly conspiring against them. This is actually a thing Rolling Eyes Did any of the guys they lost really do anything of significance this season besides start a few games? If so I sure don't remember.

Pats fans are as dumb as a door nail. They went from having like 6 or 7 picks to 12. Yeah okay I don't see that at all.

The Pats lost a lot of FAs that logged significant snaps with their new teams:
DT Malcom Brown (16 game starter with Saints)
CB Eric Rowe (15 game starter with Phins)
WR Cordarrelle Patterson (played 16 games with Bears)
DE Trey Flowers (15 game starter with Lions)
T Trent Brown (11 game starter with Raiders)

All signed multi-million $ deals, with Brown and Flowers getting huge deals.

On the other side, the only FA signing of note that the Pats made was LB Jamie Collins - and he got a one-year deal for $2 million.

So yeah, that's why they got so many comp picks.
