Trade out of 5?
Something to ponder. If Grier is concerned with Tua’s health and Herbert’s leadership do you think Miami might trade into a latter pick?

For once I'm in agreement with Jmp. (Checks outside to see if the world has ended.) This team has enough picks already, at some point they just need to worry about actually using them properly.

Re: Trade out of 5?
Yeah, we really don't need more picks this year...we need talent. At 5 we either get a possible franchise QB or one of the top defensive players in the draft.
Re: Trade out of 5?
I think that Burrow, Young, Okudah and Simmons go 1-4.
Which leaves us Tua or Derrick Brown at 5 IMO. I think Tua is the pick.

I'd trade out of 5 for a high first and a 2nd next year.

I'm thinking the Giants go OL. That's classic Dave Gettleman. And God knows they need a LT!
Re: Trade out of 5?
The only reason for Miami to trade back is to get more picks so they can have more of an opportunity to find some diamonds in the rough. I don't see Miami trading down unless they know they can find good player outside of the 5th pick

What if Miami and the Chargers swap picks? There’s two QB’s Tua and Herbert and the Chargers love one and Miami grades them equally? We get whichever QB is left.

I think if they skip a QB at 5 then they take an OT and try and trade up for Love. I don't see them trading back though I suppose if it's only a couple spots and they still get their OT in this scenario then I'd be ok with it.

I would do anything for love, but I won't do that.

I've always thought so too, but when Killah gave me an opening I just couldn't resist Oh wait, that didn't come out right

Re: Trade out of 5?
NFL Network’s Peter Schrager is very well sourced, and he floated a scenario in which the Dolphins packaged their 18th, 26th and 39th picks and sent them to Detroit for the Lions’ third overall pick.

would you do this trade to have both the 3rd and 5th pick? but why would Detroit make this trade?

Always take advanantage of the openings, even if it's a bad song.

Not a bad deal for the Phins and I'd consider it, but as we get closer to the draft I'm really loving the idea of having 5 picks in the first 2 rounds. Getting Tua and Simmons would be sweet, though...
Re: Trade out of 5?
I've read a couple articles on how Grier likes to work the draft. This is more Tannenbaum style, wheeling and dealing.
Highly likely IMO Grier will stay where he's at, and let the draft come to him.
You know who we've heard very little about? Hurts. Late first/early second shocker pick could be coming...

I like Hurts. Weiss calls him "this year's Lamar Jackson."
And wasn't it Ross who wanted Lamar Jackson?
But Tua has something special.
We shall see.

Re: Trade out of 5?
Standing pat at #5 and getting Tua would be an outstanding move. Hell, maybe you take Hurts in the 2nd round to "double down" and guard against injury risk. Then move Rosen for whatever you can get in trade, or just outright release him.
There is more than one way to deal with injury risk at QB. It doesn't have to be "well if he gets hurt we are screwed" - just plan for it.

Re: Trade out of 5?
I have grown to like Hurts, but IMO he is not the next Lamar Jackson. Lamar is a much better runner, but I think Hurts is a better passer.
In any case, Hurts could be an option in round 2 if we don't go QB in round 1.
BUT...
I will consider it a colossal, epic FAIL of gargantuan proportion if we walk away from this draft without Burrow or Tua. I like Love, I like Hurts...but they are both significant downgrades to Burrow and Tua.

Re: Trade out of 5?
Hurts has to show that he can make the right plays when he needs to. I like Hurts as well but he gonna be a 3rd/4th round pick

I would take $8.00 in Publix coupons and a Happy Meal for Rosen, and consider it a steal.

Yeah, I think that pretty much sums it up on Rosen.
Re: Trade out of 5?
saw this ignorance on Bleacherreport today....

this would be a disaster if Miami trades up just to get a OL. I know that Miami needs a good OL but not worth trading up for one.
Scott Polacek wrote:The Miami Dolphins are reportedly looking to trade up in Thursday's NFL draft, but not in pursuit of a quarterback.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Dolphins "have called the teams in front of them for a possible trade up from No. 5 and are gauging the price to come up to No. 3 to potentially take an offensive tackle. We could see a run on tackles in the top 10 like never before."
Bleacher Report's Matt Miller projected Miami to select Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa with the No. 5 pick in his most recent mock draft. He included two offensive tackles in the first 10 picks: Iowa's Tristan Wirfs at No. 8 and Alabama's Jedrick Wills at No. 10.
