Kareem Hunt would be an excellent fit. Great runner and receiver he's a weapon, and he'd look good sharing the load with Gaskin and Ahmed. I would be totally fine with that backfield, plus we wouldn't need to "reach" for a back in the draft.

I'm honestly not too worried about the Pats anymore. The Patriots Way was really the Brady way.

The guys they've shelled out big money to so far? Meh.

J Smith is a good red zone weapon, but he's got 1300 yards receiving spread out over 3 seasons.

They paid Godchaux to start, and we know he's shown potential but never really realized it here. I like R Davis much more.

They want to sign Judon? Go ahead. I'm thinking Reddick may be the better player, and he's still young and the arrow is up.

I'm thrilled the Pats are spending like this. FA rarely works out - look at all the guys we signed last year and how many we've moved on from. Some (E Ogbah) will prove to be worth the money but many won't...

Very interesting to see them spending big money on FAs like this - not something they usually do.

I do think they're a better team now than they were yesterday, but huge spending sprees like this rarely work.

Thoughts:
--Judon is a great player who will fit perfectly in that defense. I think it's a great signing.
--Godchaux is a solid player and will give them a nice rotation player, but he's closer to JAG than stud.
--Mills is very inconsistent, sometimes awful, but can play multiple positions in the secondary - and you know the Patriots love players with 'positional flexibility'. And, he only got $9 million guaranteed so they can move on pretty easily next season if he busts.
--Smith is the most intriguing of the bunch. Playing on a Titans team that runs, runs, and runs some more, it's difficult to know how good Smith really is. Does he get open because of play-action or does he get open because he's good? He is athletic and has pretty good hands, and is a red zone weapon. Pretty good blocker I think. If Cam can learn to throw the ball again (a big "if"), Smith can be a huge addition, and he figures to be a target-monster. But if Cam stinks up the joint again, it's a waste. They need a big-time WR to really get the most out of Smith IMO - because I don't think he should be a team's #1 receiving target.

Big move for the Chiefs. They restructured a bunch of contracts to create cap space, and OL was a HUGE hole for them. They still need tackles, but Thuney is a great get.

Dolphins have made clear in contact with some agents that they're looking for value signings. That doesn't preclude one splashy signing of course, but they've called today on multiple second/third tier players at need positions who could come cheaply.

Seems like the Phins are going to sit back and let the few teams that have tons of money spend it all right away. Then Miami can look for some value signings. Makes sense...as much as I do want to see at least one "splash" signing.

I actually prefer this approach. Draft for talent and use FA to build depth and plug roster holes so there’s no glaring needs.

It’s fools gold, so spend as little gold as possible while shoring up roster

Their D was already good. Even if it gets better, how much better can it get and they'll still lag behind on O now that You Know Who is gone. Even *I* didn't expect 7-9 from them last season and now with the Bills and Fins on the rise and the Jets bound to get better at some point, they're closer to last than first in the division Twisted Evil

In addition to Judon, Godchaux, Smith and Mills, they signed two WRs: Kendrick Bourne and Nelson Agholor, and re-signed DL Deatrick Wise.

Damn, that's a lot of action!

Insane $$$ for a guy that isn't particularly good. Damn, these WR prices are out of control. I can't even imagine what WRs that are actually good, like JuJu and Golladay, are going to get.

I'm on record as being a big Golladay fan, but he may be looking at close to $20 million a year with the way these lower-tier receivers are cashing in! Not sure I'm buying at anywhere near that price.

As @AdamHBeasley and I have reported, Dolphins have been pursuing Golladay. The agent for another prominent WR who signed today told me he considered Miami the front-runner for Golladay, but that was just his opinion from talking to teams. At least Miami in the mix.

Well, we'll see if the Phins actually get Golladay. I think the Giants are very much in the mix for him.

Linsley just became the highest center in the league with his 5 year, $62.5 million contract ($26 million in guarantees). It could be that he was planning to go to the Chargers all along...we may never know if the Phins ever had any real interest.
