Melvin Ingram visiting
Would anyone take a chance on Ingram?
I would prefer Houston myself

Worth a look for sure. If he's healthy, he'd be a good depth signing IMO. Can always use more pass rushers.
Re: Melvin Ingram visiting
It depends on the price.
Just like with any Hooker... er... I mean with Hooker.

I would assume the Phins wouldn't offer Ingram anything more than a minimal one-year 'prove it' deal. He's not in a position to command more than that, coming off a season where he missed more than half the games with injury and had zero sacks.
Re: Melvin Ingram visiting
Oh yeah - I'd be OK with Justin Houston too. I do think adding a rotational pass rusher to the mix is a pretty big need, given that everyone not named Ogbah is young and still learning/developing. Hell, sign both Houston and Ingram if the price is right!
Re: Melvin Ingram visiting
I have no idea who Logan Laine is or if this info is accurate, but if true than it seems like Ingram will be a Dolphin soon.
Logan Laine
@LoganLaine7
The Dolphins and Melvin Ingram have expressed mutual interest in getting a deal done, and the Dolphins FO is trying to make the numbers work as we speak. Ingram is still in Miami and training with DeVante Parker while he waits for his agent to strike a deal.

"Logan Laine" sounds like a great pornstar name but unfortunately he's a guy so there goes my daydream

I hope Ingram is a Fin by the end of the day. This could really shore up are defense. i don't think he is elite but as a situational pass rusher he could be a little more than above average.

I have a hunch that Grier is waiting to sign Ingram until after June 1 but has agreed to a deal in principle, because Ingram's signing will necessitate another release and obviously it's better to let a player go after June 1 than before. Just my thought on it. We'll see.

Re: Melvin Ingram visiting
why does the Miami Herald feel the need to shit stir...
https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/nfl/miami-dolphins/article251693598.html
how does Ogbah's absence have anything to do with due diligence into a possible veteran depth signing - even if he does want an extension? i don't know, but i just don't see the "bit of context" that supposedly provides.
and oh, by the way, there were a lot of veterans not present (some happy with contracts and others maybe not)...
oh, Miami drafted a OT and a TE - perhaps a bit of context for the absence of Fluker and Myarick...ewww, the intrigue.
Emmanuel Ogbah, who led the Dolphins with nine sacks in 2020, is among the Dolphins players not spotted by reporters.
It’s not immediately clear why, but his absence provides a bit of context into the team’s decision to bring free agent edge defender Melvin Ingram in for a visit Monday.
Ogbah is entering the final season of a two-year, $15 million contract and is set to earn $7.5 million in base salary in 2021. He is believed to be seeking an extension, though it’s unclear if his absence Wednesday was related to that.

More significant absences Wednesday: cornerbacks Xavien Howard, Byron Jones, Justin Coleman and Jason McCourty, linebackers Jerome Baker and Benardrick McKinney, offensive tackle D.J. Fluker and receiver Will Fuller. Baker is entering the final year of his rookie contract.
Others not spotted on Wednesday: tight ends Adam Shaheen and Chris Myarick, linebacker Brennan Scarlett and defensive tackle Raekwon Davis, who was attending a graduation in Alabama this week.

Medi ahas gotten completely out of hand. Every little thing is analyzed and a whole fake news story is created around the tiniest bit of meaningless info.
This is ridiculous on so many levels...but mostly because of this: the 2 players don't even play the same position! Ogbah is an every-down DE, while Ingram would be a situational pass rusher lining up at LB, DE and DT. The Herald gets a bit worse every day.

That does make sense, and June 1 is less than a week away.

so true. you mean like, i dunno, let's say, hmm, Deshaun Watson.
you remember all those mediots (cough, cough like Mike Florio) who said there is no way Watson would be a on the Texans and in fact would be traded to Miami, cause you know. they don't trust Tua. well now those same mediots (cough, cough like Mike Florio) are saying that Watson can't play for anybody else other than, you guessed it, the Texans!
Watson will have to make a guess as to whether the league will place him on the Commissioner Exempt list. If he believes there’s a real chance it will happen (and there is), he’ll show up for camp.
He’ll show up because the end result will be the same as if he holds out — he won’t be playing [a member of, but not actually playing] for the Texans. On paid leave, however, he gets his full salary of more than $10 million for 2021, and he faces no fines, forfeitures, or other consequences. If he sits out all of 2021 without showing up, the total cost will be upwards of $20 million.
So if he shows up expecting to be placed on paid leave and isn’t, he’s stuck. He’s on the Texans. He’ll have to practice and play, unless he opts to “hold in,” deliberately providing minimal effort and/or refusing to practice or play based on embellished, exaggerated, and/or fabricated injuries.
Fueling that likelihood is the reality that, while the Collective Bargaining Agreement creates an easy path for players to not show up for the starting of training camp (although it’s not cheap for him to hold out), it’s very difficult to leave once a player has arrived. At that point, the team can send the player a letter giving him five days to return and, if he doesn’t, the team can place him on the Reserve/Left Squad list. If that happens, the player can play for no one in 2021, and the team will be able to pursue financial relief from the player, while also not paying him a salary.

hahaha. which one is it Mike? there's no way he's a Texan or he has no choice but to be a Texan? what an idiot!
sorry, i hijacked the thread...back to normal... yes, if he's healthy - and the contract is right, Ingram might make a nice veteran, situational pass rusher.

Re: Melvin Ingram visiting
I don't mind, IMO the media cannot be bashed and trashed enough, so hijack away!
What people have to understand about the media is that they stopped reporting news or even giving the facts a long time ago, and now it's all about pushing agendas and narratives. Once the media decides--or is ordered to--push a certain narrative about a certain person or subject, that's what the narrative must be forever. This is why all of a sudden the same media who was all about believing every woman who accused every man of various misdeeds over the past 5 years or so regardless of whether any actual proof existed or not has suddenly decided that somehow all of Watson's accusers are lying. They have to be lying you see, because otherwise it doesn't fit the previously established media narrative of Watson as a slave just wanting to break free of the Texans' plantation. Because a QB not being allowed to also be his team's GM is somehow considered oppression on the same level as when a group of people were made slaves over a century and a half ago. Because the media has said so.
Life's easier once you realize this and simply stop taking anything the media says seriously. They still do serve a useful purpose though: if the media insists something is true then you know for certain the opposite must be true.

Re: Melvin Ingram visiting
The media is totally trustworthy. Just look at the entire Aaron Rodgers situation. Adam Schefter is much more trustable now.
If you really want to dig into it, the media stopped being news when they decided ratings were important. That's when the real money got into the news and it became propaganda, bought and paid for by whomever wanted to push whatever agenda they personally held.

New conspiracy theory: the media suddenly decided Spygate is now bad and evil and wrong because the team involved is named the Patriots and these days liking America and everything it used to be about is also bad and evil and wrong. Don't be surprised if the SJW crowd decides they want the Patriots name gone. Not even joking. They already know they can change the name of sports teams at will, so what's stopping them?
