Re: JMP round one mock draft 2.0
I just read that Jaelen Strong has a broken bone in his wrist that might require surgery...I think I'll keep him at 16 for now, but when he gets re-checked by the NFL this weekend I may have to move him out of the first if the prognosis is bad...
Re: JMP round one mock draft 2.0
If Strong fell to us in round two I'd be thrilled.
Round 1: Gurley
Round 2: Strong
If this happens I'll become so optimistic you'll ban me from the board.

Damn, that would be the perfect draft!!! Two of my favorite players in this entire draft, and I think both are perfect fits for Miami's offense.
Hell, if this happens I'll ban myself!

Winston and Mariota going one and two? That would be like two chicks at the bar being so desperate to get laid they'll literally go home with the first guy who says a word to them. The Bucs and Titans will likely both be picking in the top 5 next year if they take those two bums. Winston is basically a more jerkass version of Manziel. There's 50/50 odds of him being arrested before he even signs his contract

I actually agree with you, although I think Winston could be good if he ever grows up. Mariota is a college QB, pure and simple...he'll suck in the NFL IMHO (unless he goes to the Eagles...)
That said, if you are the Bucs or Titans, priority #1 is QB. It's a chance they have to take...I don't think they have a choice.

I don't know that Mariotta will ever be Top 5 but he's a better prospect than Tannehill was. To me he's the same player only more polished. So if anyone liked Tannehill in college I don't see how they can't like Marriota. Much like Russell Wilson, Marriota protects the ball and moves the chains. That wins in the NFL.

I think Mariota needs to be in a certain type of offense. If you put him in a typical pro-style offense, IMO he'll fail miserably. I think he needs to be in Chip Kelly's offense with the Eagles in order to be good at the next level, or even an offense like the Dolphins. Much like the Dolphins did with Tannehill, I think you need to scale back the offense for Mariota and give him safe, high-percentage throws while allowing him to use his athleticism. It can work, and I agree that Mariota's a much better prospect than Tannehill ever was, but it has to be the right situation. I guess you can say that about any player, but I think it is magnified with a high-profile QB because you have to add pressure and expectations from fans/media to the mix.
