Defense or Offense
Alright, does the Dolphins defense produce more sacks than the Dolphins offense gives up?

Re: Defense or Offense
I say the D gets 50 sacks, breaking the franchise record, but the O-line also sets a new franchise record by giving up 60.

Re: Defense or Offense
As long as Tua is playing, the OL won't allow too many sacks, so yes, the D will have a lot more sacks than the OL allows.
I think this D has the potential to put up a ton of sacks, if Phillips and Chubb are as good as they have looked early in camp.

Perhaps you are right. Over the last 3 seasons (Tua's entire career) 27 QBs have been sacked more than he has. He's also been remarkably consistent, getting sacked 20, 20 and 21 times.

HOWEVER...sack percentage tells a more accurate story. For instance, Geno Smith has been sacked 60 times--one fewer than Tua--over this same span but has in fact been sacked far more often. In this category Tua is 22nd among QBs who have been sacked at least 60 times since 2020, still pretty good.

Yeah, Tua's issue isn't sacks - it's how he reacts when he actually does get sacked! Hopefully the offseason work he did will prevent him from hitting his damn head every time he gets tackled! Of course, you know scummy teams like the Bills will continue to get away with cheap shots on Tua - and unfortunately nothing will be done about that.
And of course none of this is meant to exonerate the Miami OL - they need to get a lot better, period.

Reportedly, Wilkins has been simply unblockable as well. He's going to be highly motivated as he's pushing for an extension and looks to get paid like the premier DTs in the league.
I have no concerns on defense even without Ramsey. Yes, if we lose a TON of guys to injury of course it will hurt, but I really like the starting group and we do have some descent depth especially in the front 7 IMO.

Yeah, especially with Tindall and Iggy possibly starting to be real contributors, I like where this defense is at right now. I think we need some DT depth for sure, but otherwise it's a strong group of players with one of the best defensive coaches in the league.
