Lets hope that Suh can be the leader the defense needs stay great/good throughout the season
James Walker wrote:DAVIE, Fla. -- Defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh was candid on Tuesday about his expectations for the Miami Dolphins' defense now that he's anchoring the front seven.
"We gotta continue to grow as a unit so we don't just become a great paper team," Suh said at Dolphins minicamp. "We can be an actual great team on the football field, go out there and impose our will, force offenses to not do what they want to do and get outside their box and give the ball back to our offense."
The Dolphins signed Suh to a $114 million contract this offseason to join a pair of fellow Pro Bowl players, defensive end Cameron Wake and cornerback Brent Grimes. As a result, expectations are high for the Dolphins' defense following back-to-back 8-8 seasons.

BAM! Exactly what I've wanted to hear a Dolphin defender say for years. We've had too many passive, quiet, "nice guys" on defense...it's about time we added a mean, nasty, tough SOB. I hope his attitude is contagious and the rest of the players get on board. I'm sick and tired of seeing the Dolphin defense react to what the opposition does, instead of (as Suh said) imposing their will and making the opposing offense uncomfortable.

Suh looks like he's got built in shoulder pads. What a specimen. Love the attitude. Let's hope Wake has something left in the tank. Could be a devastating duo.

Also don't sleep on Vernon.
He's looking for his next payday, so I expect him to be hungry and extremely motivated this season. In his prime, that should make for yet another force to deal with on our defensive line. I thought I read he ranked mid-league in sacks, but near the top for number of pressures on opposing QBs last season.

The problem with that type of player these days is, they tend to constantly get arrested because unlike the HOF defenders of past decades they don't know how to turn it off away from the field. Also, "mean, nasty, tough SOB" seems to be code for "getting drunk and then getting behind the wheel a lot".
Plus I've got no faith in the D-line now that Kacy Rodgers is gone.

Valid points. But, football is still a (semi) violent sport, and if you don't have that killer instinct on the field you don't win.
Losing Rodgers definitely hurts, especially with the development of younger players.
