JMP wrote:WTF were the Texans thinking????? They traded DeAndre Hopkins and a 4th to the Cards for David Johnson, a 2nd and a 4th! Holy crap!! Kyler Murray may be the happiest person in the world right now...Deshaun Watson, not so much.
Bill O'Brien traded Clowney for a 3rd, then gave up two firsts and two seconds for Tunsil, now this.
Good Lord. This is as dumb as it gets. He already has Hyde and Duke Johnson via trades last year, and adds a guy who looked done last year to them. He was the third best RB on his team behind Drake and Edmonds.

Massive addition for the Colts, but giving up the #13 overall pick for a DT seems like a very high price.
Colts might have been in position to draft a top QB before this. Not now.

'Fins signings, IMO:
Lawson's a gamble. Decent performance in a contract year, not much before that. Iffy.
Flowers arguably had his best year at LG last year. Quality signing for a talented 26 year old.
Byron Jones was probably better in 2018 than last year, but he's a good CB to pair with Howard. There are some good CB's early in this draft, depth seems iffy.
Van Noy should be a defensive leader right away.
Obviously a lot of $$$ spent, but we still have $46 million to work with

Well, Diggs isn't a Patriot or Jet - but he is a Bill! Nice move for the Bills. They really have a strong receiving corps now.
Re: NFL Free Agency updates
The Bills probably got the best deal out of this whole trade. Someone needs to tell Bill O'Brian how to make trades

Re: NFL Free Agency updates
I really thought that in the end he'd wind up staying in New England. It's crazy to picture him on a different team. Real curious to see what the Patriots do.
Re: NFL Free Agency updates
what the Tua picture is looking like at the moment.
Patriots, Chargers, Bucs, Jags, and Fins are all looking for QB's at the moment. Miami might have the draft capital but the Pats are above the curve when it comes to winning the conference. Even with the signings that Miami have at the moment, the Pats are still more of a favorite than the Fins. Tua is gonna be hot right now for a lot of teams and for the fact that he is one of the top QB in the draft there is a chance that someone besides the Fins will move up to go after him in the draft.

Excellent signing by Panthers to get him if true.

Re: NFL Free Agency updates
Well, maybe Flores can do something with Jones, but I never really thought he was that good before, and I sincerely doubt he is gonna live up to this enormous contract.
We shall see.
Shaq.... I agree with Hal. If he gets after it, it is okay, but if not...

Shaq is going to be fine. Talented and versatile, we will find ways for him to contribute in this defense.
Not every signing is going to be an out of the park HR, but we are going to hit enough singles and doubles with these guys. The floor of our talent base is definitely coming up...

I told everyone he'd be leaving a month and a half ago when he sold his house. People who plan on staying where they are don't sell their houses. Plus if Brady was going to stay he'd have come out and said so weeks ago rather than let everybody speculate because that would've accomplished nothing and Brady's not that kind of drama queen.

What can they do besides sign Rivers or make a trade for somebody? If a team actually allows them to trade up into the top 5/10 for a QB then the NFL is officially corrupt beyond all hope. The dynasty is over. If they couldn't win a playoff game with Brady last season even with that D then how will they win one without him?

And really, that's all this team needs for now. I knew they'd have to sign at least 5 guys just to fill the roster with warm bodies who didn't completely suck, but there's no need to bust the cap in one offseason signing big names who almost never work out for any team anyway.

Drafting Tua won't help the Pats win next season. And likely not after that either when he gets injured yet again. There won't be any getting out of this one, they used up all their draft luck when they stole Brady in the 6th round. That won't be happening again for them or anyone else.

Patriots will either be trading up for Love or taking Eason or possibly Hurts IMO. I doubt if Fromm is the guy to keep the dynasty rolling.

Solid move by Carolina to get Bridgewater for $21 million per year, cheaper than Rivers, Brady, or Tannehill.

Maybe the Pats sign Winston....let's see what a genius Belicheck really is.

If we were counting on him to be a starter and every-down player, I would agree. But I think he is going to be a rotational player that gets on the field in specific packages. I think he will be expected to get 5 or 6 sacks a season, and he'll line up in different positions depending on down and distance. The fact that he is solid against the run makes him a really nice chess piece, because even if teams run at him on a passing down he can hold his own.
IMO he is a perfect fit for a defense that plans on showing multiple looks.
