Phins at Chargers score predictions

Miami needed a Rivers 4 interception meltdown last year to scrape by with a one-score win.  SD HC Lynn was with the Bills and Jets from 2009 to 2016 with teams that played the Phins close or beat them many times - so he knows Miami.  add this all up with the 1 week delayed start of the Phins' season, fleeing a hurricane and playing in a tiny stadium, i think the tendency is to think Miami might be set up for a flat performance.  but no, i will not give in to temptation.  i think Gase has more confidence (perhaps unfounded) in Cutler and will allow him the freedom that Tannehill never showed he could handle.  it'll be an up and down game with lots of mistakes and surprise plays, but Miami will escape with a narrow victory owing to a missed game-tying SD field goal.

I think I mentioned this before, but these teams are very similar IMO. Both have potentially strong offenses and weak defenses. I think the game will be decided by a field goal, one way or another.

I do expect the Phins to come out flat and fall behind in the first half - because that's what they do. Last season, they often overcame early struggles with late-game heroics. They'll try to do the same thing on Sunday, but they'll come up short.

The Chargers will kick a late FG to take the lead. On the next drive, Cutler marches the offense down the field with ease - and then throws an INT or loses a fumble to hand the victory to the Chargers. Welcome to the Jay Cutler era.

I'm worried about the Chargers pass rush, but I see the Hurricane and week plus in California really galvanizing the team. It's an emotional game and the disaster in South Florida will have the team take the field with passion and fire.

They will rise to the challenge and win in a lower scoring contest, with multiple turnovers by both teams.

That was the very first Fins game I ever saw on TV, in a hotel room on the way to my Dolfan grandparents, and the only three things I remember were the Hook And Lateral, the announcers yammering on about this Kellen Winslow guy, and Von Schamann having roughly ten chances to win with a FG and somehow never doing it.

I was on the 20 yard line, 20 rows up in the Orange Bowl, when Von Schamann kicked a divot farther than the ball.  Both attempts were right in front of me.  On the second kick, the guy behind me (just a little older than me, but still a kid) told me he was going to donate all his money to charity if he missed the kick.  He missed it, and he tapped me on the shoulder and said, "Guess what?  I'm going to do it, I'm donating all that money to charity."  I wonder if he did it.

Benershke wasn't much better, but he managed to finish his second attempt and win the game.

The Dolphins had that one in the bag, twice, from close in, and No. 5 really fornicated the Frenchie on both kicks.

Well I have to say it since I happen to be posting.

I was pretty close with my prediction. No turnovers however, very clean game from that standpoint.

No turnovers, no offensive output.

Thank god for our new kicker, oh, and blind-ass luck.
