According to Schefter, the Phins get CB Aqib Talib and a 5th round pick in exchange for a "future draft pick".

I wonder if this means that Howard's knee injury is serious???

Looking closer...this may be a case where the Phins bought a 5th rounder. Note the section I bolded below:

Without knowing what the future pick the Dolphins are sending back is, we can’t really assess that trade, but it seems likely that the future pick is actually worse than that fifth-rounder, and this is actually the Rams unloading the remainder of Talib’s salary this season. Talib is a vested veteran, which means his full salary is guaranteed for the rest of the season, and the Rams would have been on the hook for the rest of his salary if they had released him.

Talib becomes a free agent after the season.

Whether Talib actually plays for the Dolphins remains to be seen. He’s currently on injured reserve, and the Dolphins may just leave him there for the rest of the year and pocket that pick from the Rams.

reading more...we are definitely buying a pick. The Phins are responsible for $4.2 million of Talib's salary, and will likely give up a 7th rounder.

So basically, we are paying to turn a 7th into a 5th.

We have the cap space, so why not? Good move, even if Talib never plays a down for Miami- which is highly likely.

Actually, it sounds like Talib will never play for Miami. Unless something changes, I think he'll stay on IR and then become a free agent in the offseason.

I think they sign him to cheap deal and at worse he’s veteran depth if not a starter that rookies will need to beat for a job.

Remember, he spent two seasons in New England they know him....

Yep. In fact, he's even staying in LA for his injury rehab. My guess is he only gets to the city of Miami if he's going on vacation! LOL No chance he's ever setting foot in the Dolphins compound.
