Taysom Hill? Empty Taysom Hill?

I found this article interesting, and could not help but wonder, could Hill be a fit here in Miami?

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2020/02/10/sean-payton-thinks-someone-will-make-rfa-taysom-hill-an-offer/

A few thoughts:

We could craft an offer sheet that's extremely difficult for the Saints to match. Especially if we are committing to Hill as a starting QB.

There are a number of advantages to going all-in for Hill, assuming we believe he's a fit and are willing to commit. We no longer need to draft a QB like Tua high in the first round. In fact, you could take a prospect later in the draft and use all 3 first round picks on the premier positions (OT, CB, DE). Or, you could go into 2020 with Fitz, Hill and Rosen on your QB depth chart, and assume Hill will win the job.

Honestly, I don't know much about him.

I would be surprised that the Saints would give him up. There are too many upsides for him to not be in picked back up unless he was a lot of money

I don't see any team in the NFL giving up a first for Hill if he gets the first round tender. That's absurd. Hill is a role player. He's not a full-time QB, at all. He's great on special teams, and you can use him in a variety of positions on offense - WR, TE, H-back, QB - but he's not starting-caliber at any of those positions. The way the Saints use him is absolutely perfect.

He's like a modern day Jim Jensen. That's a cool thing to have, but it's not a necessity and it's not worth a ton of money or a high pick. We have a lot more pressing needs.

Not arguing, again I don't know Hill, but the Saints are rumored to covet Hill as the heir to Brees.

It appears the Saints, for one, think he's capable of starting at QB. Hill feels the same way:

In reality he would probably do better as a backup that does everything then just a QB.

Exactly. And I'm not even sure I'd want him as the #2 backup. I think the best way to use him is the way the Saints have used him. If anything, maybe you make him a full-time TE/H-back that gets a few QB snaps, but there's no way he'll ever be a "true" QB.
