Ballage NOT traded to Jets - failed physical
According to PFT https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2020/08/26/dolphins-cutting-kalen-ballage/
Clearly the starters are Howard and Breida. I’ve also read Gaskin is making a strong push in camp for playing time.
Chalk up Ballage to a draft miss that had one good TD run and move on

Re: Ballage NOT traded to Jets - failed physical
Take away his 75-yard TD run two seasons ago (how???) and Ballage has a career average of 2.3 yards a carry That shouldn't have even been possible in the '70s, let alone today's NFL. And remember, he had more carries last season than any other RB on the team! (Again, HOW???)
And indeed when I checked, it really wasn't possible in the '70s and no RB has averaged 2.3 yards per carry or less on 100 or more career attempts since the early '50s (some of these guys weren't even RBs but still).

It was only a matter of time!
RB could actually be a strength this season, with Howard and Breida leading the charge and Gaskin and Laird continuing to develop. A strong running game would really help the entire team.

Mando is grousing about the missed draft pick and the result of only retaining four from that class.
I get it. No one wants to miss on picks. However, the NFL average is something like 30% success. Also, making bad picks is only part of the problem. Holding on to them indefinitely only makes it worse.
This staff showed with Weaver, they won't wait too long to upgrade, or toss those aside who just aren't cutting it.

This!! That was one of the biggest faults of past staffs: keeping bad players too long. Looks like those days are gone.

Updated the thread title, because Ballage wasn't cut...he was traded to the Jets!

Gotta love this Dolphins front office. While that conditional pick will probably be downgraded to nothing if and when Ballage is cut by the Jets, it's pretty amazing that we were able to work out a trade for a player that literally could not have played any worse! Were the Jets afraid some other team would steal him before they could get him??
Grier should win executive of the year for this move alone. LOL at the Jets!

The Dolphins found someone to give them a thing of value, in exchange for a thing they were throwing away.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Dolphins are trading running back Kalen Ballage to the Jets for a conditional late-round pick.
The fact that it’s anything is a bonus, since the Dolphins planned to release him.
The former fourth-round pick had 198 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns last season for the Dolphins, but was better as a rookie under then-coach Adam Gase. Still, he enters a reasonably crowded position for the Jets, with Le'Veon Bell, Frank Gore, and 2020 fourth-rounder Lamical Perine.

Re: Ballage NOT traded to Jets - failed physical
This just turned into a kind of cool subplot for this season.
Past teams have seen castoffs go for career days against us. Let's see what Ballage is able to do in the two shots he will have, assuming he makes the roster.
I'm really hoping our improved front 7 - better linebackers, Ogbah and Lawson setting the edge, Raekwon Davis sharing time with Wilkins/Godchaux - will have the juice to be effective stopping the run.
If not, Ballage runs wild and we all gnash our teeth over watching it happen.

Changed the thread title again because:

Poor guy is cursed.
Consider it one last miscue for the Kalen Ballage era in Miami. The Miami Dolphins have been trying to part ways with third year running back Kalen Ballage for the better part of a week now — at first planning on cutting him before a last minute deal materialized with the New York Jets to reunite Ballage with his former head coach Adam Gase.
But the news has come through that there will be no deal with the Jets to send Ballage north for a conditional 7th-round NFL Draft selection. Why? Because the running back failed his physical with the Jets due to a hamstring issue that Ballage reportedly suffered earlier in training camp.

This is just like the actual MSM where the "truth" literally changes from one day to the next! Just cut the guy and be done with it I say!!!
