The Dolphins made absolute theft to 31 teams in the NFL in drafting Jevon Holland in the second round.

This is the best draft pick of the class and a defensive rookie of the year candidate.

What a pick.

Travis Wingfield
@WingfieldNFL
Tua throws a pass that brings the rain to Jakeem Grant in the corner of the end zone – tight coverage, couldn’t have walked that pass to Jakeem any better -- TD

Another view of same play:

Danny Jablonski
@dan_jablonski
Tua drops it in the bucket to Jakeem Grant in the back corner of the end zone for a TD. Jakeem shrugs to the crowd like “I’ve been trying to tell y’all”… the play happened right in front of me. The throw was outstanding

In other NFL news...

Jets' DE Carl Lawson was carted off the field with what appears to be a serious leg injury. I've been hearing that he was having a monster camp.

By all accounts, the OL was better today. Not perfect, but better. Baby steps, I guess. But Robert Hunt has been dominant at RG.

And it seems like Tua is absolutely loving throwing to the big boys - Gesicki, Shaheen, Hollins. TEs are going to be a huge part of this offsense, from the way it looks now.

For what it's worth: Jets fans are complaining about their young LT too. Apparently Mekhi Becton has not looked good this summer (although I thought he looked good against the Giants) and is getting abused by the Packers in their joint practices this week. The offensive coordinator even called him out to the media.

Okay okay, so Grier did ONE thing right in drafting Holland instead of Teven Jenkins. So far. By accident after letting Denver snatch Javonte Williams out from under his nose. Blind squirrels, acorns, yada yada.

I really don't think the Phins wanted Williams. I think the only RB they wanted was Harris, and they attempted to trade back into round one for him. But I think they would have taken Holland even if Williams was there - no doubt in my mind.

There's no way the Broncos trade one spot ahead of Grier unless they KNEW he wanted Williams. Why else would they do it? Somebody got tipped off. It's just so happened to work out so far but only by sheer dumb luck. If Grier's so smart he wouldn't keep drafting project players in the first round, and Eichenberg would be the starting RT right now. That's my narrative and I'm sticking to it! Cool

There's any number of reasons why the Broncos would move up. The most likely scenario IMO is that the Dolphins thought the Falcons were targeting Holland, so they spread false info about Williams - making the Broncos panic and move up to take him. The Falcons then took a different safety at 40 (Richie Grant), so I think it is likely they had Holland and Grant ranked similarly and figured they'd get one or the other at 40 and pick up an extra pick. I refuse to believe that Grier is dumb enough to let the league know who he's picking...it makes no sense. I find it far more likely that he'd spread disinformation.

Barry Jackson
@flasportsbuzz
Flores said Parker, Fuller, Wilson will be out there working today in a walk through. Asked if he's worried about availability for early in season, he said he's not worried.

Brian Flores says he wants to ramp up the practice activity for Preston Williams and Elandon Roberts, get them into team drills this week after they were activated off PUP last week.

Some things I read about today's practice:

Merritt and Perry both continue to make plays.

OL looked very good overall today. Eich was excellent at RT - but left the field with what appears to be a (hopefully) minor leg issue. Little reportedly looked great at both LT and RT.

Phillips and Van Ginkle were the first team OLBs and both lived in the backfield today.

Waddle with another great day...seemed to sustain an injury bit then was immediately back on the field. Kid is tough as nails.

Good day for Tua. He will not play in the final preseason game.

Long and Parker with a couple of nice catches.

X and Jones continue to excel. Jones seems poised for a monster season.

And that's about it. Today was the last practice for the media. Tomorrow is the final training camp practice, to be held indoors.

Seems like it took forever to get here, but yes, the real games are right around the corner! I think I feel more excited about this season than any season I can remember!! Those first 2 games are really going to set the tone.

Little might be a steal. He had health issues that set him back. If those are over he could potentially be a pro bowl player.

I wouldn’t be upset if he plays well enough to take Jackson’s job.

Bottom line I don’t care how we get there - we have to have a strong offensive line.

I think Jackson is going to work out just fine - but it is great to know that we might have a potential replacement just in case!
