Lovie Smith - DC

The Texans fired Lovie Smith.

Anyone join me in thinking he would be a great defensive coordinator for Miami?

Bring me that Tampa 2 and a coordinator that knows how to game plan and call it! I'm IN!!!

But I suspect he wants to be a HC again.

He would have a world of experience he could share with McD also.

I am thinking McD will go after someone from the Shanahan coaching tree though?

Realistically Lovie might never get another opportunity.

Shanahan is a good thought but he already lost Saleh. How much depth does he have coaching on that side of the ball?

During his last two seasons in Tampa, he had one of the worst defenses in the league.

Then he went to the University of Illinois, where he was the head coach for 5 consecutive losing seasons, with a defense ranked near the bottom in the entire nation each season.

Then he came back to the NFL with the Texans for two seasons, and again had one of the worst defenses in the league each year.

No thanks...Lovie sucks!!! He seems like a nice guy, but he's done as a coach. Keep him as far away as possible.

Meh. Feh. Bleh. At this point I'll settle for anybody not named Josh Boyer. Which means Boyer is definitely staying.

I don't want Lovie because it's just really awkward for me to watch a coach who looks like a 200-year old black Santa. Seriously, WTF is up with that beard???

Coach will bring in someone He Knows or Shanahan tells Him to.

Be careful what you wish for with "anybody not named Boyer". Lovie would be a downgrade. The beard is the best thing about him, and I think that says it all!

I know this is a thread about defense, but with the Rams' coaching staff possibly looking for work if McVay leaves, I'd put Joe DeCamillis high on my list for Special Teams Coordinator. he's been an NFL ST's coach forever and it would be great to give McDaniel another veteran coach to work with.
