I guess it's cool that we added experienced veteran depth to the OL, which is a huge need, but neither of these guys inspire much confidence. Still, I'll take it at this time of year.
The Miami Dolphins sign a pair of veteran offensive linemen, adding offensive guard Jeff Linkenbach and offensive lineman Jacques McClendon to one-year deals, according to multiple sources.
Linkenbach and McClendon's signing bolsters an offensive line which needs to find two starting guard for the 2015 season. Linkenbach should be in the starter mix considering he's a five-year veteran who has started 36 games during his time with the Colts and the Chiefs.
McClendon, a former University of Tennesse product, has spent four seasons in the NFL working as a guard and center. This 27-year-old spent last season with the Jaguars, which started him for three games at center.
Last season Linkenbach, who is 6-foot-6, 325 pounds, started three of the 16 games he played for Kansas City. He played in 216 snaps and allowed two sacks and eight hurries in the four game she served as Kansas City's starting right guard late in the season.

@AbramsonPBP
New #Dolphins OL Jeff Linkenbach tells reporters he "absolutely" expects to compete for a starting job.
At 6'6", 325, he's HUGE for a guard, especially in a ZBS. But if he can take Dallas Thomas's job, I'm all for it!

Hey, I'm just glad they got some more guys to compete. I think a bag of constipated badgers would be better than Dallas Thomas.

True, although the more I read about these guys, the more I think they're just scrubs. But...

Funny - but true.
Re: Phins sign two veteran offensive linemen
yea, i'm not too sure these guys will add much to the competition to start...

a guy who lets the QB get pressured twice as much as Colledge (that's Dallas Thomas territory) and a guy who wasn't good enough to keep his job after 2 games in Jax. not much to get excited about there.

But Colledge was better in pass protection a year ago, allowing a quarterback pressure just once every 36.3 snaps. Linkenbach, meanwhile, allowed one every 18.8.
McClendon, who can play both center and guard, has appeared in just 22 games (starting five) in a four-year career spent with the Jaguars, Lions and Colts. He started the first two games for Jacksonville last year, but lost the job after struggling.

i know, i know. i so wanted to be positive and see these guys as developmental prospects, but i gotta be honest - i'm afraid there just ain't much there to be hopeful about. the only thing i am clinging to is maybe, just maybe the Dolphins' ZBS blocking will be a better fit for these guys' skills than their previous teams.

I'm still scratching my head about the propsects of a 6'6", 325 lb. lineman playing Guard in a ZBS. Doesn't make sense to me...guess we'll see how it works out...
