Really like the Mike Hughes pick for the Vikes. Zimmer will make him a star.

Nope, RB Sony Michel! One of my favorite players in this entire draft. Assuming his knee is OK, this is an outstanding pick for the Pats. Damn.
Re: 2018 NFL Draft Thread
Sony Michel. Pats needed a RB pretty badly too. Looks like Jackson and Rudolph last until tomorrow.
Would you move up for one of them?

Michel? Meh. He's decent but that D still hasn't gotten any help and I like that

I'd trade up for Will Hernandez TBH.

They'll fix the D...plenty of picks left. So far they added a big-time piece to the OL, and a playmaker at RB. Not bad at all...unfortunately.

The O was already top-notch. Hard to see it getting any better, and the Pats have failed to win the SB before with great offenses. They needed to fix the D and they didn't do it. That's a win for all of humanity as far as I'm concerned. They basically spent a first rounder to replace Dion Lewis. Now if they'd gotten Edmunds or even Evans at LB, then I'd have been upset.

Re: 2018 NFL Draft Thread
One thing about tonight is how much it highlights what horrible position Tannenbaum put this team in. No way should the team that's won the division forever and just appeared in the SB have two first rounders, the Bills had a big haul and used it about as well as they could have, and the Jets didn't even have to tank that much to get the QB they wanted. Meanwhile the Fins pretty much had to stay put because Tannenbaum robbed them of any meaningful ammo to trade up even if they wanted to.

Re: 2018 NFL Draft Thread
Jackson going to Baltimore is the most intriguing pick of round 1 by far. It's going to mean a MAJOR shift in offensive philosophy - going from a classic pocket passer like Flacco to a ridiculously dynamic athlete. Should be very interesting to watch.

Agree 1000%. It sucks having a crappy front office (and coaching staff, but that's another thread.)

Nah, the OL was poor last year and then they lost Solder this offseason. It was a major hole...and they need more help there. And the way the Pats use RBs, losing Lewis was huge...and they replaced him with a MUCH better player IMO. Belichick knows how to find defense in later rounds - no doubt he'll do it again.
Re: 2018 NFL Draft Thread
Actually Belichick's track record of drafting DBs is...really poor. Along with drafting WRs, which is why they always have to sign FAs at that position.
It was fun but I stayed up way later than I should have and I'll be paying for it tomorrow. Don't expect me to be in here much any more, but I was worth it just for one night with youse guys

Re: 2018 NFL Draft Thread
Looking at Round 2, with only one TE gone there should be a good value left. If Rudolph is still there I want him to be the pick, would be a great value at 42. Kinda surprised that Landry hasn't been picked yet, and Hernandez was expected to go late in the first too.
Other intriguing options: Daniels, Reid, Josh Jackson. I guess we can rule out the latter after taking Fitzpatrick.
How far will Maurice Hurst fall?

See ya tomorrow! Glad you hung in there for the whole thing tonight!

Teams must be very concerned with the Hurst heart issue.
Things are set up nicely for the Phins to get a stud TE at 42. As far as I'm concerned, that's the way to go...give me Gesicki, Goedert or Andrews and I'm a happy man.
BUT...
I'd be shocked if Hernandez lasts till 42, but if he does that might be a no-brainer.
Regardless, there's a ton of good players on the board. Wish we had multiple seconds...
Re: 2018 NFL Draft Thread
I love Harrison Phillips at DT. I don't expect the Phins to take him, but he's going to be a helluva pro IMO.
Re: 2018 NFL Draft Thread
the Jackson pick is a reach and desperation pick to me. they didn't need to move upto gethim. why Psts get another RB, what they gonna play a 4 RB set

I disagree.
The Jackson pick is not desperation...it's preparing for the future. Could be a brilliant move if they commit to overhauling the offense when Jackson is ready.
The Pats didn't have a #1 back...just a bunch of one-dimensional players. Michel can do it all...he's an absolute beast and he'll be the best back they've had since Curtis Martin IMO. That offense just went from great to scary-great with these 2 picks as far as I'm concerned. If they can add an outside receiver and a couple of pieces on D...they just may be back in the Super Bowl.
Re: 2018 NFL Draft Thread
Greg Rosenthal of NFL.com has the Phins as one of the "Day 1 losers" because Rosen was picked at 10, even though he says Minkah is a fine pick.
That's gotta be the weakest "loser" argument I've ever heard.

Wow...that really IS weak, even by sports media standards Bashing the Fins for not trading up one spot and taking a QB we don't even know will work out? Come on, man.
The sad part is, there are plenty of legit reasons to call the Fins Day 1 losers. Having insufficient draft capital while the Pats and Bills had 2 first rounders each, not taking Edmunds when they have the league's worst LB corps, etc. And the pick itself was actually GREAT by this team's standards. They didn't take a special teams player or somebody projected as a third rounder like usual. The pick itself wasn't considered a major reach or from a school nobody's ever heard of. But the mediots love to hate this team regardless of how good or awful they are. Been that way literally my entire life. Meanwhile the Pats' first two picks could've been a kicker and punter and they'd have gotten praised up the wazoo for "knowing what they're doing"

The guy also said the Bills were losers.
I don't think I'm going to pay him any mind.
