The way I'm reading it is that a witness - not an alleged victim - who worked with the Texans and coordinated massage appointments for Watson refused to say anything and wouldn't even admit to knowing Watson.  That actually looks really, really bad for Watson IMO - someone that could potentially help his case won't talk...I wonder why???  

Her not talking only proves to me that Watson is not only guilty, but maybe even MORE guilty than he already looks! Nobody's this tight-lipped if somebody's completely innocent. That's when you WANT to talk to clear that person's name.

The problem with Murray is that he looks like the best QB in football for 6 or 7 weeks...and then fizzles out and becomes average the rest of the season. I like him, but the draft picks required to get him wouldn't be worth it IMO. I'd rather wait and see what Tua can do in the McDaniel offense, because my gut tells me Tua will be better and more consistent than Murray.

A second grand jury in Texas declined to indict Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson on Thursday after considering an accusation of sexual misconduct, the Brazoria County District Attorney said.

"After a careful and thorough review of the facts and evidence documented in the reports prepared by the Brazoria County Sheriff's Office and the Houston Police Department, as well as hearing testimony from witnesses, the Grand Jury for Brazoria County has declined to charge Deshaun Watson with any crimes. Accordingly, this matter is closed," Brazoria County District Attorney Tom Selleck said in a statement.

so now a 2nd grand jury has also decided there isn't enough there to bring charges.

Rusty Hardin, Watson's attorney, said in a statement that he was "thrilled" by the news.

"We've known all along what people who learn the facts also know -- Deshaun committed no crimes. In fact, two separate grand juries have now found that there wasn't even probable cause to believe he committed a crime."

He added: "It is time to let the civil litigation proceed at a normal pace and for Deshaun Watson to take his place as the quarterback of the future for the Browns. I am fully confident that the Cleveland community will discover that Deshaun Watson is not just a great quarterback but also an incredibly decent person they will be proud to have represent their city."

I keep saying this but I will again, all that #metoo stuff just magically disappeared once the presidency changed hands. Now sexual misconduct against women is fine again (as long as you're not a straight white male with the "wrong" political opinions).

Also, Florio now says the Browns are preparing to trade Watson to the Fins by the end of the week, and insists that feeling something could've happened that didn't is the same as it actually happening.

As a UFC fan I can tell you that ESPN, who carries every UFC event even if most of them aren't on regular TV anymore, had absolutely no problem with Greg Hardy being on their roster. You remember Greg Hardy, don't you? In case you don't he's a former NFL player who makes Watson look like a saint and was actually BANNED FROM THE LEAGUE FOR EXCESSIVE MISOGYNY. Read that bolded part again. But so-called "woke" ESPN was just fine with him in the UFC. As far as I know, none of their female employees said a word about it. Go figure.

Hardy was recently cut from the UFC roster...but only because he lost too many fights. Before he started losing he was actually getting promoted as a possible title contender. Yeah.

And don't even get me started on Jon Jones But if any woman at any time "feels" like I looked at her in a way that made her "uncomfortable" that's the same as attempted rape, right?

ESPN's Sarah Barshop reports that a 23rd civil lawsuit has been filed against Deshaun Watson.

Barshop notes that according to the petition, the plaintiff "changed her mind about filing a lawsuit after watching the HBO Real Sports piece" that aired last Tuesday. We continue to have no real update on what a reasonable timeline looks like for Watson's return for the NFL, but it's probably not great news for said timetable if more women are coming forward. USA Today added another portion of the petition, which reads: "But it was Watson himself claiming that even now he has 'no regrets’ and has done nothing wrong that solidified her resolve. She brings this case seeking minimum compensation, but to obtain a court finding that Watson’s conduct was wrong.”

The thing with Mayfield is that I don't think any team views him as a definite starter - not even the Panthers. No one is going to trade for a backup with a base salary of just under $19 million. The Browns are either going to have to eat most of that salary in a trade, or cut him outright and get nothing. It seems like any teams that might be interested in Mayfield are content to let the Browns wreck their cap and see how it plays out.

And yes, it is amazing (and disgusting) to see how the media continues to cover the Watson case. Such a joke.

I'm with you - I think he's a solid QB when healthy and he can win games in this league. I also think Watson is going to crash and burn (if he even plays), and the Browns have royally screwed themselves by acquiring the criminal and shitting on Mayfield.

Unfortunately, the only two teams with unsettled starting QBs are the Panthers and Seahawks, and it doesn't seem like either one is looking to help out the Browns unless they eat the contract.

What is mind boggling to me is how the Browns agreed to such a ludicrous restructure. Where did the Watson camp get its leverage? Under active investigation for sexual assault, and refusing to play for his team even if the NFL let him do so... why the need for ANY restructure at all? He had just signed a big extension before the shit hit the fan.

I guess that's just how the Browns roll?

Yeah I'm not going to read the latest. I know all I need to know. This is an established pattern of behavior for Watson - who anyone in their right mind now knows is a predator - and the Browns just signed the worse contract in NFL history.

Only by the grace of God did Steve Ross escape unscathed with yet another misguided foray into the acquisition of a player or coach. The Payton / Brady plan (I admit, I do not understand how that would have ever worked) was much better in theory. Proven guys with exemplary records and untouched by scandal.

The Watson stories are disgusting at every level. I can't even imagine being a fan of a team that has this piece of shit as their QB.

I will say this though - Watson was smart, committing horrible acts in privacy that can't really be proven without any physical or video evidence...which would be extremely rare in these cases. Massage sessions aren't filmed (legally, anyway...) and so it's just a case of 'he said, she said' - which is nearly impossible to win in a criminal court. Now, Watson can still be found guilty in a civil court where you don't really have to supply the burden of proof, but he will of course avoid jail time.

Goodell should bring the hammer down hard. It won't happen, but I'd love to see a 2-year suspension.
