Phins' free agent RB/special teamer Brandon Bolden is back with the Patriots.

Damn! Oh well...

so now that Tyrod Taylor is in San Diego and Bridgewater is up in the air, why am i starting to get the sinking feeling that we're looking at a another year of a "re-negotiated" Tannehill. please say it ain't so.

Well, it's pretty clear that the Phins are going to avoid all high-dollar (or, semi-high-dollar) free agents so that they can get compensatory picks for James and Wake in 2020.  That's why they didn't go hard after Flowers or Taylor, or anyone else.

I'm now convinced the Phins will trade down in the upcoming draft to get an extra pick in 2020.  This team has it's eyes set on 2020...clearing up cap space and looking to add picks.

Tannehill will be cut to get his salary off the books - and it will happen sooner rather than later so we can absorb all the dead money this season and be free and clear of him in 2020.

We could also wait and sign a veteran QB post June 1.

Several drawbacks, but the primary advantage is that it doesn't count towards the comp pick formula.

Holy guacamole, if the Fins really DO go into the season with Rudock as the starter, 0-16 is VERY much on the table.

They won't, but wouldn't it be almost hilariously absurd???

Jake Rudock. Played for Michigan and spent the last couple of years with the Lions. The Phins picked him up early this offseason. Dolphins coach Jim Caldwell knows him from his time in Detroit. Jim Harbaugh loved him at Michigan. Obviously he hasn't done anything yet...so who knows. Of course, I don't expect him to be any good...but part of me is curious to see what he can do.

Yeah I saw that too.

He's the most interesting veteran left. Showed he can play, and hasn't had any significant starting / practicing time since he was injured. And he's still pretty young.

If we do sign Bridgewater, it likely means we'll lose the comp pick for James (depending on Teddy's contract). I guess we'll find out how much the Phins actually like Teddy. I've always liked him, and he was impressive with the Jets last preseason - but at the same time, I think he needs to sign a "prove it" deal...been too long since he was a legit starter to just throw big bucks his way.

Hoping we can get Teddy here. Might prove it well enough to be a long-term answer at his age.

Phins signed ANOTHER TE - former Hurricane Clive Walford. Most likely just a camp body, and it doesn't hurt to kick the tires. But I think it's pretty clear that this staff reviewed last season's tape and came away with something we already knew: the TE position is a colossal gaping hole on this team, even after drafting Gesicki and Smythe. Gesicki is the only true receiving TE on the roster, so he'll get a year to prove himself in that role. But Smythe and O'Leary better watch their backs...learn how to block or get out.

The Dolphins did not tender any of their restricted free agents: Leonte Carroo, Mike Hull or Jake Brendel.

https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/barry-jackson/article227504499.html#storylink=cpy

So Carroo is finally done in Miami. Hull was decent on STs but offered nothing at LB and is easily replaceable. Brendel has talent but can't stay healthy. Cut the dead wood!

It's for the best, though I do like Teddy. he obviously doesn't want to be a Dolphin, so fuck him...let him be a benchwarmer.

And no, Tannehill will not be a Dolphin...he's a goner.

On another note, unfortunately it seems like the Phins are keeping Robert Quinn. Ugh. Rolling Eyes

Yes, please! Not the most athletic guy, but he's a behemoth people-mover and surprisingly quick. Master of the pancake block. Scot wants Big Mean Nasty Sons of Bitches...Spain fits the bill. Come on, Grier - go get 'im!!

So...the Phins are still trying to trade Robert Quinn, and reportedly are willing to eat part of his money like they did with Tannehill. This is GREAT news...hopefully we can get another nice pick in 2020!

Saw that news about Quinn. Yeah, made sense to pay the bonus and retain his rights. He still has value. Maybe not the 4th we gave up for him, but something.

Would not be at all surprised to see Stills get traded also. Team-friendly contract terms, and he still has speed to be a deep threat. He probably has more value than Quinn. Is a 3rd too much to hope for?
